Sprint letter - Image 1Apparently fed up with too many complaints received from customers, Sprint decided to sack its contract with customers who called their customer service hotline excessively and sent them letters notifying them that their subscription had been terminated. Part of the letter reads:

Our records indicate that over the past year, we have received frequent calls from you regarding your billing or other general account information. While we have worked to resolve your issues and questions to the best of our ability, the number of inquiries you have made to us during this time has led us to determine that we are unable to meet your current wireless needs.

Customers who received those letters will have their service cut off on July 30 2007, and those who wish to keep their numbers will need to have them transferred to another provider before that date.

The move is seen as an effort to get rid of customers who seem to take up too much of Sprint's resources as well as clog up the customer service hotline. Roni Singleton, Sprint's spokeswoman, elaborates, "We have to be able to quickly and efficiently serve customers, and when we are unable to consistently solve our customers' problems it results in a lot of frustration and longer waits for other customers."

Sprint is known to have a hard time keeping customers - even losing about 220,000 post-paid subscribers - and are also rumored to have sub-par customer service compared to other providers. This decision to terminate customers certainly looks like its going to hurt the telecommunications provider more than benefit it, but Sprint may have something up its sleeve to work everything out.
