New scans of Hilde, Raphael and Astaroth from Namco's Soul Caliber IV - Image 1 New scans of Hilde, Raphael and Astaroth from Namco's Soul Caliber IV - Image 2

With the new wave of fighting game sequels just beyond the horizon, Namco Bandai featured a couple of the boys and babes for the upcoming Soul Calibur IV. We have a nice scan depicting the new femme fatale in armor, Hilde (or Hilda as there's some discrepancy with the translation, but I'll be sticking to Hilde for now), as well as all new designs for Raphael Sorel and the monstrous golem, Astaroth.

Continuing the series' well honored tradition of babes in armor, Hilde embodies this practice as the newest character to strut her stuff in the Soul Calibur arena. Coming from the fictional European kingdom of Wolfkrone, she wields both a sword and a spear with deadly efficiency and looks like she'll be giving the older veterans a run for their money when the new game comes out.

The game hails the return of Raphael Sorel, the French nobleman, with his all new goth outfit, probably taken off the same tailor who did Alucard's threads. Also, the golem Astaroth looks more inhuman than ever with his current incarnation for the game. Who knows what new tricks these two returning warriors will be showing us in Soul Calibur IV?

The game will take a while to hit the shelves as it will still come out at the end of the year for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. No worries, though. We'll be keeping everyone updated on any news in the coming months.

The Name seems to be German, rather ancient though... It's "Hildegart von Krone" (you can check the middle of the second page if you're able to read Katakana)
