The impressive XEL-1 OLED TV from Sony wouldn't be available until December 1 in Japan, but direct sales website Sony Style for the region is already taking pre-sales for the home entertainment product.
First announced a couple of months ago, the TV set sports a three-millimeter thin 960x540 resolution display and 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Pricing has not changed as the organic light-emitting diode TV is still pegged at 200,000 Yen or roughly around US$ 1,807.
Quite interestingly, the pre-sales page mentioned a three-year warranty service. We say interesting because the product's life span is expected to last for 30,000 hours and that's around three years and six months.
Up until now, Sony Japan has yet to confirm if XEL-1 OLED TV will be made available to other regions such as Europe, Australia, and North America. It should be remembered, however, that Sony Electronics President Stan Glasgow recently expressed desires to ship the product to U.S.
