Bravia - Image 1In the aftermath of the Bravia LCD TV's success, Sony decided to add more crisp and clear displays to the existing Bravia LCD roster. Sony's Managing Director, Carl Rose, said that they are now focusing on larger LCD sizes, 1080 high definition display, and seamless connectivity with Sony's other visual gadgets such as the Handycams, the PlayStation 3, and the VAIO notebooks.

The new Bravia LCD monitor series will be named XBR, W, and D. The XBR will be the high-end series model, running at 100Hz, with three HDMI inputs and 24p True cinema to better deliver Sony Picture's 24 FPS format, and the better to play Metal Gear Solid 4 with. The XBR will come in at 40-inch, 46-inch, 52-inch, and 70-inch models.

The 70-inch Sony Bravia will also be the first Sony LCD monitor of its size, and the first one to be powered with the Triluminous LED Backlight system.

On the other hand, the W and D LCD monitors will also come in full 1080 HD, with the Sports-oriented D series featuring the "Motionflow" feature for seamless action scenes.

And what influenced Sony to beef up its LCS TV lineup? According to Rose, the addition of new LCDs were in response to Australian consumers who quickly snapped up Sony's LCD offerings. Rose said:

Australians are leading the pack in high definition, and in such a sport-loving country, you can see why this might be so. Australia is the fastest growing high definition market, and accordingly, we expect Bravia sales to hit 80 million by the end of this year, and 100 million in 2008.

Not decided if you should start saving for the new Bravia LCD TVs? To help you decide, you should know that the Bravia LCD TVs will come with home theater systems, such as the new small IS-10 invisible speakers, a six HDMI AV receiver, as well as Bluetooth technology. Pricing, however, is not yet available.
