A few days ago, Sony revealed that they'll be announcing something huge tomorrow, March 31. But what is it? According to a recent statement from a SCEA PR manager, we now know what it is not. Ever since the news hit that Sony would be dropping some big news tomorrow, a bunch of people have been singing about a PS3 price cut. Commenting on this line of speculation, SCEA's Al De Leon said: As we have stated previously, we do not have plans for a PS3 price drop, and any rumors to that effect are false and are the result of speculation. SCEA remains focused on the long-term momentum of PS3. With the industry's best software lineup this year, combined with our most aggressive marketing campaign to date, we remain confident in our approach and the value we're delivering with PS3. If it's not a price cut, then what could it be? The PSP2/PSP-4000? Could it be PS3 FW 2.7? PS2 backwards compatibility? Or what about a PS2 price drop? Well, whatever it is, we've only got a couple hours left before they announce it tomorrow, so just keep those bets coming - the ball is still on anyone's court (well, except the PS3-pricecut team, of course). More people are just gonna get a 360 or wait it out, and that's not what they should want.
But what do I know? I'm just the consumer, the guy who determines how well your product does and contribute to your entire company.
Anyone remember the big Steam price cut weekend?
7000+% in total sales. People could learn from this example.

I'm going to stick my neck out there, attract ruthless flames, and get smacked-around tomorrow if I'm wrong ...... but I'm going to go with that rumor that started a few weeks back from that trade analyst who said that Sony will release a non-Blu-ray PS3.
In effect: PS2.5. A PS2, with PSN network capability and all the necessary GPU/CPU firepower to run PS3 games, just without a Blu-ray drive (which would be an optional add-on).
*And* a PS2 price-drop to $99.
Imagine: a PS2 that could also run downloadable PS3 games for about $200-$250 with solid-state memory options (like Memory Stick Duo), and that could be upgraded to Blu-ray for $200 more.

I can only wish lol I really want a new Kingdom Hearts. But Nomura is not done with FFXIII Vs sooo the chances of that happening are less than 1% if not less than 0%. Hopefully a release date for GT5 full version.

But we know it's now gonna happen until all the crappy RPG that Squeenix gave the 360 comes to the PS3. I just don't get why PS3 owners want them. Lost Odyssey is probably the only RPG this gen worth the time. Hopefully Final Fantasy XIII and Versus gets us back to praising Squeenix.

And people, as much as a price cut would be great for PS3's sales, Sony's losing enough money as it is. The system is worth way more than it is, so save up your money and just buy it.

No Price cut... that's fine. I've already gotten 3 PS3's anyway (1 bedroom, 1 Living room and one at girlfriend's). It's true, if people wanted a PS3, the price would not have been an issue. Even at 599 there was still plenty of bang for the buck (a PS1, PS2, PS3, CD, DVD, Bluray Player, Internet, Music photo and video player).
My thought is it won't be FW related because they do that on the blog and they always release bits of info in spurts. Definitely not FW related. I'd laugh if it were something like Skype coming soon. That or if Sony announced something like "Bandstar" to compliment the "Singstar" line or "Rockstar". With EA and Activision BOTH crossing 1 billion download dollars in sales it wouldn't be surprising to see Sony throw their hat into the music craze. Let it be known, I coined "BandStar" and "RockStar", LOL!
