Peter Dille, Sony senior vice president of marketing - Image 1The Sony PlayStation 3 is going to have a great holiday season, says Sony senior vice president of marketing Peter Dille. Even with PlayStation Home and LittleBigPlanet out the 2008 window, Dille wants to spread the word: "we have a fantastic line-up of PS3 games this holiday." Dille realizes that the competition offers other attractive things, but the PS3 is the way to go for "the most technologically advanced gaming system."

In an interview with Game Informer, Dille stressed out that the PS3 "will stand the test of time for the next 10 years." If the sound of that and free online gaming float your boat, the Sony marketing VP says their console is "a perfect choice."

According to Dille, not only does the PS3 have "technical horsepower that you just won’t find anywhere else," but also over 160 games with 19 exclusives. As time goes by, he also believes developers "will get acquainted with next-generation technology and a new development platform." For us, that means more games on the PS3.

Aside from cutting-edge gaming, Dille is expecting other PlayStation brands to make gamers happy. He mentioned the strong run of the PlayStation 2, and the PlayStation Portable's success which skyrocketed after PSP Slim & Lite's release.

Peter Dille, also known secretly as "Captain Obvious"...

I mean, come on, even the nintendo and micro$oft fanboys know that ps3 is the most powerful system out there...

What are they gonna say next? That the Wii has the most unique controller?!

Or that the Xbox has the best online system... I mean come on, why state the obvious?!

Also, I like how the wii never gets in these discussions...

It's the best selling system right now! Come on! Give it some respect! Graphics aren't everything, guys! And if you're so obsessive about violence and blood, try Manhunt 2 (which admittedly sucks so far).

 » true that

Not even fanboys can argue with the fact that the PS2 is NOWHERE near dead, the PSP made a STRONG comeback, and that the PS3, soon and definitely will be on top, just like how the PS1 dominated the Sega systems, the N64, and how the PS2 dominated the Dreamcast, the Xbox, and the Gamecube.

   Re: Constantinecy - 2007-12-02
» more or less yes but..

We will not see a PS2 like domination again...The ps3 on top yes but the 360 will be very close behind

   Re: Stealth! - 2007-12-02
 » Wrong^^

360 will not be behind it, if everything goes to plan PS3 will be on top and the Wii right behind it, and 360 behind the Wii. Im not being a fanboys im getting a 360 but you can't argue how good the Wii will be over 360 if everything goes the way it should.

yea they got to keep on saying it because people like you seem to forget how awesome the ps3 is. besides most of what you said was a mater of opinion anyway.

   Re: GW2 - 2007-12-02
 » your so wrong

have you played drakes fortune. its gameplay is amazing. ratchet and clank would be better then up your arsenal if it had online. but it doesnt so your right on that one. and heavenly sword is short but good. its really fun to play. your to god damn picky.

 » You guys are lame

Everything you guys say is opinion. You guys are obviously Sony "fanboys" just like Peter Dillehole here in the article. Of course he is going to say the PS3 is the best system out there because he works for Sony. What a surprise.

   Re: iamback(unregistered) - 2007-12-02
 » no!

not necessary. As a partial nintendo fanboy, I admit that the ps3 is superior in graphics and technology.

To say otherwise makes one a fanboy... I seriously wish people would stop claiming that there's a "best" system out there...

Each system has its own pros (and cons). Here's the basic outline:

Wii
Pros: Interesting user interface. Acceptable price. Easy to bootleg :P

Cons: Cheap graphics, no HD (i think), games often tend to be minigame compilations (keyword *often*), minimalistic online play (i don't hear of anyone using their wiis to play online, as far as I've heard)

XBox:
Pros: Acceptable graphics (ok, fine, Great graphics :P), best online system, relatively easy to bootleg

Cons: Price (although it's gone a lot lower now); xbox live bannage for using mods; the rabid fanboys; red ring (owned!)

PS3:
Pros: Superior graphics and sound, biggest games (in terms of storage)
Cons: no modchip (I think), price (duh), rabid fanboys, though not as bad as Xbox's, no online play (right? I think that's what i've heard)

Of course, as you guys can tell, I don't own all three systems, and I don't play online much, so my comparisons may be skewed.

   Re: GW2 - 2007-12-02
 » ps3 has online.

if ps2 had it why wouldnt ps3 have it. heard of warhawk? its online only! so if the ps3 didnt have online (which is free by the way) warhawk wouldnt exist (the new one that is.

   Re: iamback(unregistered) - 2007-12-03
 » whoops

@GW, my bad. Like I said, I'm not an online guy, so I didn't know that. In that case, strike that con from the ps3 list...

Thus, the only weaknesses PS3 has are price and moddability! Darn, this thing IS really good...

 » lol @ the people...

...proclaiming that the PS3 will win this gen. If you forgot to check Nintendo's sales numbers for last week...you know, the week they sold 1 million consoles in America? Yeah. None of the current gen consoles are any good IMO (just the handhelds, I have both) and the Wii isn't that great at all (Nintendo modded a Gamecube to use Wii controls and DVD9s) but the Wii WILL stay on top.

Anyone denying that is a fool. Have you SEEN the sales numbers for that thing? The PS3 hasn't sold up to half of what the Wii has worldwide. Don't kid yourselves. I just hope the more casual focus of the Wii doesn't mess everything up for the more "core" gamers though, even though I enjoy a little "casual" gaming once in a while( Animal Crossing, Brain Age, etc.).

Peace.

   Re: Stealth! - 2007-12-02
 » last time i checked

The Wii didn't even made 1 million in America only around 650,000, also didn't you forget the Wii has shortage of supply and got there rear kicked in Japan for the whole month of November thanks to PS3.

Now Im sure Peter is just reminding fanboys like you that the PS3 is future proof, meaning that its for 10 year, not just 1 year or 2 like 360 and wii, there hardware is flawed when compared to PS3.

Im not denying there still on top in terms of worldwide sales, but at one point its going die out, just like in Japan, since there numbers has been dying.
