Killzone 2 delayed by SCEA 'management' decision - Image 1

Ron Eagle of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) says that Killzone 2's delay to February 2009 was because at least two first person shooter titles were already geared for release this holiday.

Guerrilla Games' highly anticipated shooter on the PlayStation 3's release was set aback to accommodate those titles first, says Eagle:

Just wanted to add a quick reply on the “delay” of Killzone 2 to Feb 2009. To be clear, there is nothing wrong or causing a delay to the development of the title. We (SECA) had to look at the fall calendar with SOCOM, LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Resistance 2, plus some PSN titles and make a decision where each game should come out. Killzone 2 was moved to Feb 2009 to make sure we didn’t have three shooters in the marketplace competing for retail dollars during the same holiday season. The game will be great and it will be out in Feb 2009 in both Europe and North America.

Eagle's clarification comes in anticipation of worries over the delay, seeing as it may have been due to faults in development or something in the game went belly up.

If the demonstrations from PlayStation Day 08 were any indication, however, Killzone 2 is turning into potential platform mover.

 » bad move sony..

this is the game that is supposed to demostrate their consoles superiority and now theyve just delayed it again, along with all their exclusives such as littlebigplanet and home. Another point to make is that they still wont release an update giving us in game XMB, which should've been incorporated in the first place. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

» Sony obviously doesnt believe the game is that good.

If the game is great then people will buy it no matter how many other games are out, especially during the holiday season. They think they will sell more copies in February?

You are either retarded or a fanboy, you decide which one.

Too many good games being released on the same time is never a good thing. People only have a set amount of money and if the cost of the games they want to buy supercedes this budget, they will only buy certain games.

If anything, Sony is confident in this title and doesn't want to hinder the sales of other titles because of Killzone2.

There might be people who would rather buy K2 than Resistance2, but as they have no choice, they will buy Resitance2 in the meanwhile. Then, when K2 gets released buy it then.

Comon people, use your brains.

 » wow... is incredible

what I read sometimes... is even now some people was thinking if buying GTA or MGS just for the fact that not everyone buy every game they like like me and not for the money is just that I will not buy like 5 games in the same season. with GTA, MGS, LBP, resistance, motorstorm and gears of war 2 I'm more than enough for this year. Without saying that I still having fun with warhawk.

 » Yeah right

It's just stupid to let 2 topgames compete against each other.

Bad move for us, good move for Sony.

 » yup

by moving it into 2009, it can be very good for sony depending what games they want out for the ps3 for that year. They will make it balanced out so they dont have a bad year in 09, and maybe try to have a good turnout like it will this year.
