The Wii sells well - Image 1The Wii has been selling rapidly, and in copious amounts as well. According to research conducted by magazine publisher Enterbrain, the Wii has had a phenomenal following, with over 2 million units sold in Japan since its launch.

Despite suffering from worldwide shortages, the Wii and its associated software has been going strong, with expanding sales of software continuing the growth of the console's profits. The most popular of these games has been Wii Sports, which is actually sold separately from the Wii in Japan, as well as Hajimete no Wii, otherwise known as Wii Play to us English-speaking folk.

Combined with the sales in Europe and the United States, the Wii has sold over 6.5 million units, and you can bet that even more are expected to be sold once the games pick up and the gamers really begin to take notice.

» This thing is selling like hotcakes.

4 people here at my dorm (including myself) on just my floor own a wii. I am sure there a re a couple others in the building as well. I think the price is its biggest selling point. The game lineup is getting stale though. I don't include the VC b/c truly they come out with games I never played before (I never owned an N64 or a turbo graphics. Other systems are coming also so I think the VC is great other then the rape price). But I have a serious feeling that this is gonna end up just like the DS with crappy games the first year but after the turning point it will be great. One thing they did right with the DS was single card download play on almost every 2 player game. That is one of the single most beneficial features for the DS. It takes a while to crank out RPGs and even longer for good ones. I hope that developers will see that the Wii is not as kiddy (cause there is a good amount of M games being developed). Now if we could just get a few good mature RPGs then we will be set. I know online will blow donkey nuts a little with BS friend codes but I tell you they only use those to keep online free. It will discourage some people from signing on and even though their reasoning is obviously total BS I can tell its to help keep the amount of users lower. Besides they should focus more on making good games regardless of online b/c many places in the country still don't have cable/high speed internet ect.
