Sega has announced a new RTS title called Stormrise for Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows PC. This new title is currently being developed by Creative Assembly, the company behind the Total War series.

Stormrise is set on a post-apocalyptic earth where the technologically superior Echelon and the tribal Sai wage a war for survival. The game will reportedly let players experience battles right on the front lines instead of controlling units from a detached viewpoint.

Stormrise also introduces the idea of "verticality" (can anybody say "Death from above"?). Units can be commanded in the air, across rooftops, on the earth’s surface and even underground. Console-tailored controls also allow for easy unit selection, rapid navigation and precise deployment.

Sega and Creative Assembly are currently tracking a 2009 release for Stormrise. For a somewhat closer look at the game, check out the trailer below.
