Sandisk Memory Stick Pro DuoSanDisk answered the call for the growing demand from users of the popular Sony PSP by introducing a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo. It can store up to 64 hours of MP3 music tracks, 20 or more hours of movies/videos/film trailers, or 4,000 digital still images. Well not at the same time though. The announcement was made at E3 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The 4GB card, which is expected to ship this month, carries a suggested retail price (SRP) of $219.99.

SanDisk co-developed the Memory Stick PRO format with Sony. Last year, SanDisk introduced the new gaming line of Memory Stick PRO Duo cards in semi-transparent neon colors. The new 4GB card is red. Can I say ISO Heaven?

 » too expensive

I buy my real highspeed 2gb memory sticks at ebay for 35 dollars from China's sony manufacturing company and cost me 20 dollars more for shipping and handling so do the math:

2gb sony highspeed memory stick: 55 bucks
4gb sandisk memory stick: 220 bucks

I know you know what is the best deal.

I still think these MSD's are insanely expensive, i wouldn't pay that much just for storing data on my psp.

Yes, "Bored", 2GB is the limit on 1.5 firmware. The new 2.7 update allows for memory stick duo support over that limit.

 » any1 no if 1.50 compatible????

even though that is a lot of space
i dont think it will be 1.50
compatible
(correct me if im wrong)

it would be alot better if they lowered the price just a bit($10)
then more ppl would buy it bc its about the same price of the psp
either way its still a good deal

We're against piracy...I just posted that because bigger memory sticks are generally used only for ROMs and ISOs. We do not support piracy in any way.

 » uhhh.... no

Message to the foolish people: 1.5's support up to 4 gigs, as do the rest of the psp's, including 1.0. How do you think the 4 gig datel hard drive works on 1.5? It isn't magic....
So this memory stick will definitely work on 1.5, albeit a bit pricey :/

 » Yes 1.5 supports 4 GB

1.5 supports 4 gigs. How else would the datel drive work? That's 4 gigs. The psp recognizes the datel as a memory stick. Over 4 gb will not work on 1.5, but I don't care, by the time 8 gig sticks comeout, you will be able to buy 2 4 gigs for cheap.

 » compatability

1.50 is compatible with the 4gig, remember the Datel hard drives? Those are 4 gigs and compatible with 1.50.

 » PSP supports this

1.50 Limit: 4gb

so, 4get about the 8gb stick... but we can have this one (as well as Datel (sucky) 4gb drive

   by RaiderX - 2006-05-10
» 4GB IS THE LIMIT on all current firmware except 2.7!!!

All firmware can read up to 4GB, 2.7 is 8.

I liek the red color, I might buy this if I find a good deal, the 2GB have been sold for less than $60, so the 4GB might be seen as low as $100. If I see one for that price, I will snatch it right away!

» The price isnt that bad.

I dont think the price is that bad. I mean it will probubly be less on a site like newegg. When the 2 gigs first came out they were about that much and now you get twice as much space. Sandisks original price prediction was around $280, which I was ready to pay, so I'm happy with $220.

 » Not compatible with 1.50

How do you propose "ISO heaven"? XD

   by GamingDemon - 2006-05-10
 » ISO HEAVEN?

Since when did QJ.net support piracy? I thought they'd never mention "ISO", but oh well. 4 Gigabyte will seem pricy but by then i'll be working my ass off :).
