Ó

Fans of the Metal Gear Solid series know about the tongue-in-cheek humor that's part of the main flavor of the MGS games, and the video below is a good example of such. In the clip taken from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Otacon takes a jab at earlier Metal Gear Solid games (Metal Gear Solid for the PS1, The Twin Snakes for the Gamecube) and the fact that players have to swap discs in order to progress to the second half of the game.

Otacon opens a codec conversation with the words "Hold it Snake, time to change the disc. I know, I know... It's a pain." Well it wasn't really that much of a pain when we had to play the first MGS game almost ten years ago, but it certainly broke the momentum of the story.

Before you watch the video, though, we have to note that some sites interpret Otacon's talk with Snake as a direct snipe towards the Xbox 360. We do believe that it's not necessarily the case, since as we have said earlier it's most probably a reference to the multi-disc MGS titles of before. After all, there's a whole lot of history involved in this franchise, and seeing how the game has progressed and improved throughout the years, what's a little fun poked at their old skool self, eh?

In any case, feel free to write about your impressions on the following video embed in the comments section.

Thanks to Rick for the tip!

actually I think the GameCube Disk could throw 1.3GB without no second disk.

 » It probably can

But I have the gamecube version of Mgs and it does have two disks.

I think no one knows except Kojima and crew who the comment was really targeted at. Kojima will probably never say unless the everyone labels him as a fanboy, then he'll clarify. I don't know, bu it was funny.

 » Well

I think I know. Considering where snake was when he got this codec call I think we can all figure out what he mean't. I don't really wanna spoil it for people tho..

All I can say is thats targeted at the Ps1 and gamecube.

But of course if the shoe fits wear it. If fanboy's want to "think" its targeted at the 360 they can, doesn't mean it actually IS tho.

 » So what?

The fourth wall has been continually broken in the MGS series. In the first one, you're told to look at the MGS jewel case to get a codec freq.
