For those of us looking forward to Media Molecule's do-it-yourself epic, LittleBigPlanet on the Sony PlayStation 3, here's some good news: it seems that the guys behind the game are planning to have a handful of players get acquainted with the game before its slated fall release date. Yes, that's right, a closed beta - and it's closer than you think which means that we might be logging in to the crazy platformer this summer.

This comes directly from Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) Senior Producer Kyle Schubel in a segment during X-Play where the game itself was played. In the segment, we actually see a pretty healthy chunk of gameplay, and Schubel caps this off by saying that we might be getting our hands dirty with LittleBigPlanet this summer. How awesome is that?

Unfortunately, this also means that those of us who won't be getting into the closed beta will have to squirm in our seats, writhing in the knowledge that other people are having fun with the game itself. Let's hope that they have enough beta invitations for everyone, though. Updates as we get them, and enjoy the video!
