Assassin's Creed screen - Image 1You think your gaming PC can handle a game like Ubisoft Montreal's Assassin's Creed with its astounding visuals? Rumors regarding its minimum and recommended requirements have surfaced, and if these are true, it seems the bird of prey will be eat up a lot of resources.

To be fair, Assassin's Creed is no Crysis. It can probably run on year-old systems, as long as it's on a dual core processor with 2GB of RAM. For many, it's a no-brainer that it'll require a decent Direct3D 10 compatible video card with at least 256MB memory. You also have to make sure there's 16GB of free space.

For the enthusiast with high-end gaming machines, Assassin's Creed's recommended specs may not be that steep, but other gamers still complain saying these rumored requirements are beyond what should be able to make Altair move smoothly.

You can decide for yourself - the rumored minimum and recommended specs are listed below:

Minimum System Requirements:

  • Windows XP or Vista
  • 2 GB RAM
  • Dual core processor (Intel Pentium D or better)
  • 256MB Direct3D 10 compatible video card, or Direct3D 9 card compatible with Shader Model 3.0 or higher
  • DirectX compatible driver
  • DVD-ROM dual-layer drive
  • 16 GB free hard disk space
  • DirectX libraries (included)
  • Vista compatible sound card
  • Keyboard, Mouse
  • Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller (optional)
Recommended System Requirements:
  • Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo, or better processor
  • 3 GB System RAM
  • ATI HD2900 series, Nvidia GeForce 8800 series, or better video card
  • 5.1 sound card
  • Microsoft Xbox 360 controller
Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:
  • DirectX10 compatible cards, recommended ATI HD2900 series, Nvidia GeForce 8800 series
  • Direct3D 9 card compatible with Shader Model 3.0 or higher

 » Wow...

Well I'm pretty sure that if I tried to play this in any of my computers at home that the computer would simply burst into flames after I insert the disk.

Running...
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Western 80gb HDD
K8v SE Deluxe mobo
GeForce 6800 gs 256mb
1gb RAM

I would have to spend like... $1000 to get my PC up to spec for this game. RAM ($200), Hard Drive ($150), Video Card ($500), Motherboard ($200), Processor ($250), Medical supplies for when my parents beat the s*** out of me for spending $1000 on my computer ($50).

God help me if Starcraft II's requirements are anywhere near this.

If you are paying $200 for ram you are lacking in grey matter.
I bought 2gb on sale and after rebate for $15
OCZ Gold XTC PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL5-5-5-12

Now for a mobo, you will pay $100+ for a decent one, no doubt about that. Video card, a 8800gt will come in at $250, and a Intel dual core 2.6 will come in at $200. I can go lower with these prices, and every item mentioned above except the ram is not sale price.

You shouldn't be purchasing computer parts because you don't know how, end of story.

 » Oops...

I was thinking of the RAM I would be buying for my current MOBO... it uses 184 pin RAM. I was looking on either Crucial or Corsairs site and it was around $150 for the best they had.

 » They should be embarrassed

The least they could have done was optimise it a little :P

 » I agree

With the significant delay, they should have optimized alot. This was, and I stress was, a game I was looking forward to getting. However, with these system requirements, It's just out of the question right now.
