PSP Slim - Image 1

Looks like there's a new PSP custom firmware in town! Dropping by the QJ.NET forums is Coolj, announcing the latest release of his good friend _HellDashX_: Custom Firmware 3.72 HX-1. This is built off of Dark AleX's 3.71 M33-2 custom firmware (we'll explain this in a bit).

Now you'd probably remember _HellDashX_ for the Anti Update for the PSP Slim plugin that he created last month (it's a prx plugin that allows you to "hide" the UMD Update icon - keen huh?). At that point in time, _HellDashX_ had reverse engineered the code from the original programmers of the Anti Update, Team tOc.

This time around, with Custom Firmware 3.72 HX-1, _HellDashX_ had reverse engineered Dark AleX's CFW code (as you might have already guessed). Coolj notes that he was not the creator of this CFW - it's _HellDashX_. Coolj just helped out with some stuff and beta tested the brew.

_HellDashX_ says that the custom firmware's recovery interface is the old version and promises to replace it with an entirely new one in an update. The updater used mirrors Dark AleX' own updater, though reversed engineered by _HellDashX_.

According to the homebrew developer, the 3.72 custom firmware shares similarities with 3.71, so the code was simply adapted for the new firmware revision. Also, he reminds users that this release does not come with the kernel from firmware version 1.5.

Please check the readme for more details. Other relevant notes are found in the QJ.NET forum release thread started by Coolj. Heck, you might even want to ask questions to Coolj and give them your thanks! Meanwhile, good man JumpR has published a guide in our forums as well.

The link is right below! Give credit where credit is due, folks! A warm applause to everyone who's got the CFW scene a new breakthrough. DAX might be "retired," but at least CFWs are still alive!

Thanks to JumpR for the tip!

Please read this, you will be excited. When you click this link, www.xrl.us/ccrate you will go to a website that will show you how to sign up for another website that pays you 2 - 45$ (PER) to do surveys, sign up for trial offers, and test products.
Companies such as ebay pay CC to have people try their offers, and when you complete an offer, CC simply passes the money onto you. By spending an average of 3-4 hours a week on cascrate,
I have made 472$ in May, 412$ in June, and 271$ (SO FAR) in July. You get paid in real checks from "KNGSIDE MEDIA" every month that you earn 10 dollars or more. It may seem too good to be true,
but I assure you it IS true. Also, with their referral program, you can refer people by sending them your link (you get when you sign up) and for every buck they earn, you get 20 cents also! (Think how much money you can make if you have 100 people making five bucks a day)
You do not have to enter your credit card or social security number. Nothing Harmful can come from CC. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE 18 OR OLDER, I AM 15 YEARS OLD AND REFERRING PEOPLE, AND I MAKE THIS MUCH MONEY A MONTH
JUST SPENDING A COUPLE MINUTES A DAY ON THE COMPUTER! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR READING THIS.
Think it's a scam? Read this(from the website) "We assure you that this is not a scam! Companies need consumers to try and review products, services, and websites and are willing to pay money to have them do so.
Most of the time you're asked to do this without any compensation, what we do is take the money companies give us for YOUR participation, and give you back up to 75% of it!"
There are alot of websites like this, I have tried almost all of them and this really is the best, and legit one.In addition there is a new UK section opened with more then $200 worth of free offers!

there is no new to this also.

there is no need to update.

update and boost the psp sound modules....c'mon sony! put some MEGABASS ™ on this...

so sick of sound gadgets when they can also update this...

HERES WHAT THEY SHOULD CHANGE:
-remove the RSS channel- useless!
-PHOTO add some grid lines or thumbnail view format. so hard to scroll when you have 100++ photos.
-KEYBOARD allow history every text input.
-INTERNET > when pressing square put also the signal stregnth...

thats for now...

He's said that he is working on reverse engineering the 1.50 Kernel Addon for 3.71 M33 to make it work on 3.72 HX-1, just be patient.

 » awesome.

can't wait for the 1.5 kernel

   by TheJackThompson - 2007-11-06
 » haha...

this is great. i manually installed the 1.50 kernel =) i'm now running irshell 1.50... just have to install 3.71 m33 v2 + 1.50 kernel v2.. copy file reboot150.prx from folder KD in flash0 and the folder km from flash0 and put it in some easy place to remember. install 3.72 HX-1, toggle flash0 in recovery mode, stick reboot150.prx into the folder KD and copy KM on flash0.
i got that off of the elotrolado.net 3.71HX page with google translate...

   Re: FreePlay - 2007-11-07
 » False.

Seeing how the 1.50 kernel addon requires a bunch of files from 1.50, removes some 3.71 files, and modifies some 3.71m33 files, you're full of crap if you say you can install by copying a folder and a file.

good name for something than SONY itself have no done with DAX's work... do you really think that this lie will work? good work after all, DAX, M-33, or whoever you want to be called, the time and frecuency of your updates will tell us a little bit of true. Thanks for giving us power from the dark side.

Why go to 3.72 though? thy didnt add anything new.

I'll probably update later on...if it's stable. And maybe this is DAX again.

   by pwandz - 2007-11-07
 » It's not DAX

DaX denys it's him, and states there'll be a M33-3 "tomorrow"

   by ValiX - 2007-11-07
» Lol its NOT Dark_AleX people.

It's not Dark_AleX everyone. People need to get over DAX i think. He was a PSP legend and will be missed. Enough said.
I bet most people here wouldn't even know the original thing DAX became famous for!

And the article even states that the author _HellDashX_ has been in the homebrew scene for a while. Heck I even remember his releases.

Congrats _HellDashX_ and team on a nice release. I'm looking forward to where you take the Custom Firmware "Scene".

   by FreePlay - 2007-11-07
 » Well.

Seeing how the 3.71 kernel and the 3.72 kernel are the same, it's really a matter of hex editing the existing CFW files and reverse-engineering the updater.

Also, please note that the POPS emulator DOESN'T WORK YET, because it wasn't fully reversed.

   by sqelch - 2007-11-07
 » Sweet

Good to see a new developer working on CFW. Will try tonight. Thank you HellDashX.

   by DCLIPE - 2007-11-07
 » ???

WTF...D.Alex won't be missed...his a living legend...and all living legends will never stop doing what they does best til its really time to pass the knowledge on...quit saying that his quiting or retired...old habbits die hard...espacially if its been one hell of a ride...if he wants to rest...let him be...after all...his human..well i hope he is...lol...just kiddin HellDashX...i mean DAX!!!

   Re: xyal_zx - 2007-11-07
» I thought this was about custom firmware

Why does every custom firmware topic always have to be full of ppl talking about Dark Alex instead of the features of the firmware? Really doesnt make sense so im going to post something equally as relevant. Santa Clause. I bet he lives at the north pole. Everyone says he does... I wonder if he knows DAX. Does anyone here think he is DAX? I think he is. I bet if we were to debate it here we would still have no clue. Just like HellDashX and DAX debating it here is off topic and stupid.

As far as this release is concerned, It looks like the Popstation was not cracked in this release so considering that was the main reason sony made this firmware was to fix popstation compatibilty I wouldnt bother updating.

As for those of you complaining about 150, WTF is wrong with you?! 150 is outdated now get over it you poor penny-less kids. go take your best 5 games and your old psp to eb and update to slim already. 150 is a thing of the past. Emulators that take advantage of the extra cache on a slim ruuule.
And nothing is better for emulation than a functioning dpad.

   Re: iamback(unregistered) - 2007-11-07
 » Cool!

So it wasn't just my imagination/ my psp.

I always hated it when I was trying to play a game, and I couldn't do diagnal movements.

I coulda sworn that either I wasn't doing it correctly, or that maybe my PSP was just broken.

   by SCLakitu - 2007-11-07
 » @xyal_zx

People want the 1.50 kernel addon for CFWs because it has better homebrew support than the 3.XX kernel, and can play 1.50 kernel apps. It definetely is NOT dead, it is not a thing of the past, and it is still better than the 3.XX kernel.

And there is no way I am getting rid of my Fat PSP. Besides, I'm going to buy a Slim this week.

(reply button won't work, I needed to make a new thread)

   Re: bottmint - 2007-11-07
 » Yeah about that

people are developing better and stronger emulators. Not to mention more stable faster more reliable ones for the slim. And there's always the possibility of some innovative developer coming along and give us slim owners the best gift ever .... 1.50 apps working on the slim.
