Keep a close eye on the PlayStation Store this Thursday, guys. Insomniac's getting ready to drop some DLC bombs for Resistance 2.
The DLC will consist of a free patch and some paid additional content. The patch will add a enw multiplayer mode called Meltdown as well as a new difficulty setting called Superhuman, an ultra-hard mode for the game's co-op campaigns that removes the standard mode's auto-revive feature. Patch 1.50 will also allow another player to sign in for local co-op using his or her own PSN profile. LittleBigPlanet supports a similar feature, but Resistance 2's will actually let the second player save his accumulated scores, information, gaming XP, etc. Is this more confirmation for the next PS3 firmware update? Looks like it. The paid content, on the other hand, is made up of the US$ 5.99 Aftermath map pack focusing on more intimate, smaller scale battles and a number of new skins that can be downloaded for US$ 0.99 each. For more details and a look at the maps, check out this video interview with Resistance 2's lead multiplayer designer: Related articles: |

» Sick!
too bad i spent all my cred in ps store the other day on pain addons (which were not worth it :P).. well everything but fortress sucked.
i have been looking forward to this new patch for a while... looks like a firmware update will be coming out as well... unless they managed to squeeze that feature into the 2.6 update...

» Nice, nice nice.
That bit about a second person being able to actually save their stats is great. As I remember it was one of the biggest features (or lack of being griped about) during the beta.
I'm wondering how they will do it. Are all the stats saved on their servers and login during game? Or if I want to go over to my buddies place I would have to create my own login on their machine and transfer my save-game on a USB stick?
It will be interesting to see how the mechanics of this work.

» It's all already online.
That definitely bugged me about the beta, and early release.
If you sign onto R2 on a friend's PS3 right now it will already remember all of your online stats and rank, so I imagine it would be the same for a second player.
I'm still waiting for a vertical split-screen, like R1, though.

» I would asume..
That the other persons account would have to be on your PS3 as another user and the sava data that is saved under their user on your console would take effect whenever you select the user as the additional player.
