Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has thrown down the gauntlet. In the newest GTTV episode, he predicted that New Super Mario Bros. Wii will outsell Modern Warfare 2 on a single platform.
It's not really impossible if we take the single platform stipulation into account, seeing as how Modern Warfare 2 will be released on three platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Still, he added that it'll be a close race and said he believes Modern Warfare 2 is going to be a fantastic title. Elsewhere in the same interview, Reggie also denied that there will be a Wii HD. "Michael [Pachter] continues to be the only one who believes that this is gonna happen," he said. "I don't know how forcefully we can say that there is no Wii HD." Related articles:

As for the cart based systems, in case you didn't know, you could get your hands on a special cart that would allow you to plug in a retail cart and download the data to the new cart. Then you play the game from the new cart.
Most people would buy the new cart then rent a game, copy it, return it and play the game until finished. Then simply rent another game and copy that one. Holy crap!!!! Dont get me started on the AWESOME new carts that allowed you to download more then one game...WOW!!!! Those blew peoples minds!!!!

But I don't see as much advertisement for the game going around as much as MW2 and IDK if it supports online multiplayer (not just local) co-op b/c ppl love to play with eachother.
