wwwqwerty informed us of some interesting goings-on in the 3.52 M33 firmware scene. It seems that Ketchup, PSPGen's site admin (and also a programmer), has adapted the recovery mode from 3.40 LE for use on Team M33's 3.52 M33 firmwares.
Ketchup, with the assistance of the sources provided by the Team Wildcard which we thank here, thus adapted it plug-in to the 3.52 M33. It thus converted it plug-in and with added the functions NO-UMD which, in 3.40, was limited to a simple option ON/OFF. |

can we call this stealing? did they ask team Wildcard???
We call this using open source software, read everything qj said or learn how to read french and you'll see that they just did what wilcard wanted the world to do :)
Team Wildcard never planed to release their source code thus it was leaked, so u can call this stealing :)
The source isn't open, it's leaked. *****.
It's not leaked. It *was* leaked, then Team Wildcard went ahead and released it themselves, making it open.
Don't have to ask Team Wildcard--it's open source. Though this IS a blow to Team Wildcard if it's the whole "Wildcard vs. M33" bull*****.
This is not stealing, provided a source is provided, a Open Source project can be freely manipulated. :D
This just shows the power of open source: if anyone wants to improve or reuse software, they can. Less reinventing wheels and more joy!
I'm curious about what M33 think about this? Didn't they release a statement saying that they didn't want anyone working on upgrades or anything for their firmware?
Dunno what to make of this. I have heard that it has had problems all over the place. But still cool that devs can share ideas like this.
it's just a recovery mode, not like becus25's addon which had a whole new name
LE* was never meant to be open source - it was done so because the leak forced the team to. Haven't you noticed why they haven't given out the source code for their updates? IT'S BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT PEOPLE STEALING/ABUSING THEIR WORK.
This app, though usefull to some, does go against the direct wishes of team Wildc*rd, and therefore is arguably a bad thing.
A noob added my IM yesterday, asking me if I could help him build a custom firmware. I said sure, show me what you have so far. He then sent me a copy of the LE leak. I asked him why he presumed that simply because he had it, it was his to screw with and release as his own. He didn't have an answer, but then tried to persuade me with a bunch of made-up features and how it would be the UBER1337 cfw... Considering he'd only ever gone as far as a hello-world, I doubt he was skilled enough to make a custom firmware of his own. However, later that night, he sent me a copy of his firmware, so naturally I installed it to see how monstrous it was.
I WAS APPAULED. He had completely removed the LE branding, added his alias in every other sentance, screwed with the installer until breaking point (he didn't even think about flash space - a load of the 3.40 kernel was not flashed). THAT IS WHY LE IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES, AND NOT FOR NOOBS HIM AND YOU TO SCREW WITH.
Out.
Well it IS open source because wildcard rlz the sources. Besides, the HUGE problem in psp developpement is the lack of sources. I wanted to see how to programm a bit on psp but it's a bit hard since you can't have the sources of the apps. Look Booster, we were almost lost when he left cause nobody knew how he did, same thing for dark alex. And open source !+ stealing, just look at how many linux users copy softwares at their name: maybe a few unknown lamer. Programming isn't something you should hide from the others, it's only an intellectual game (for homebrew at least)
Look, Team Wildcard released the sources to stop people visiting that lamer site for the leak.
That doesnt mean they *want* the source to be public.
They released it on the condition that no one will use it for public releases. Of course Wildcard cant *force* you not to use it, they only hope that you respect their wishes.
The source is FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. Anyone releasing stuff with this source is going directly against the wishes of Team Wildcard.
Though I sure hope that most devs have more respect for Wildcard than to do something like that though.
i admit, this does make it a little more flashy for m33, but as OZ commented, i must tell him that im pretty sure m33 doesnt like this mod. I believe it was 3.51 m33-6 release maybe that they complained about becuz25 and his recovery menu thing and they said alot. I doubt their views on this one would differ from that
it dident work the was a pice of crap
hi, is this the program that i can use to come back to my original 1.50, from 3.52M33, cause i just want to know how to get back, in case.
thanks
by the way, everyone know, who made the source, everyone knows who made the mod.. the respect goes to the proper person..
I don't think these guys are working for the f#@kin big fame, but for the community.. :P

No joke, No scam, No Time Wasted!
sure, i haven't visited that link but i'm sure r+ stands for referrer, go ***** yourself
GET YOUR OWN GODDAMN RECOVERY MENU FIRST YOU COPY DAX NOW TEAM WILDCARD OMG
ok, as unfortunate as the source leaking is, wildcard still released the source. Therefore it is open source, no matter how you cut it;. Also people need to read up on a few things. What aggervated team m33 is that someone was adding nothign more than an additional recovery (useless even by the coders own admition (sp)) this is a true addon. it doesnt steal anything from m33. When someone comes out with a command prompt application, and a gui is made, it it usually praised. This is just a prettier frontend for the recovery menu. ketchup even said that it was based on m33s work, but with that i will say that I woudl like to see something in the readme from ketchup stating in black and white that is it based off of m33s code. but really I think its kind of stupid, you didnt see m33 asking sony's permission to use there umd loader...so I think everyone should just calm down. If you dont want it dont use it
it was FORCED TO BE RELEASED because it was f*cking leaked, you idiot! it's NOT OPEN SOURCE! Wildcard told people they DIDN'T want them basing stuff off the source! it's not f*cking open source!
They released the source but it's still against their direct wishes to use it for any public releases.
loving the plugin in the XMB. i can ditch my recovery eboot now!
I honestly dont know what the problem is, the orig. is always better, plus, ive heard from many people that this plugin doesn't even work properly...
I see little difference between using M33 works and WildCard works, theyre both CFWs that can play the latest games plus homebrew. These are the kinds of disagreements that turn off people and makes devs reconsider releasing anything at all to us.
If you're gunna say something is crappy... do it when something really is crappy, not because the devs are russian and you dont have the brains enough to understand a little broken english.
There's a reason sites like these are called "Homebrew Communitys" If you argue about the littlest detail, you're going to get less results.
HOW DO YOU DO THIS
WHERE DO YOU PUT THE FOLDER PLEASE HELP
The plug-in does work. If you've updated your 3.52 with the POPs loader update 2 from M33, (3.52-2) then you already have a folder called seplugins, remove the files in this folder, save them to your computer if you're unsure. If you don't have this folder then make one called seplugins, put this on the memory stick, then add the leen.prx file to this folder and create a text file with this text ms0:/SEPLUGINS/leen.prx now save as a text file and call it vsh, put this in the seplugin folder, so you should have a folder called seplugins with two files inside leen.prx and the vsh text file. Now go to recovery mode, plugins and activate the leen.prx, job done. Now you can activate recovery mode from xmb by simply pressing select and R.
