"Death. To die. To expire. To pass on. To perish. To peg out. To push up daisies. To push up posies. To become extinct. Curtains, deceased, Demised, departed And defunct. Dead as a doornail..." Well, you know how the movie saying goes.

Death is no laughing matter - unless it's a Darwin Award - and just like the day our pet dog (hit by a car), goldfish (eaten by the cat), cat (choked on the goldfish), or hamster (too busy gaming to feed) kicks the bucket, we deeply mourn the loss of our other beloved companion - the day we brick our console.

But they say the healing can begin if we bravely face death and accept it, with an open heart. With that in mind, we bring you these series - "Death Screens" - of various consoles finally giving up the ghost, courtesy of the guys at Game Brink. Think of this as your gamer's Memorial Wall. Know that there are gamers out there like you, who've probably fed their consoles one funky update too many. Remember, dear readers: You are not alone.

From left to right: Xbox, Xbox 360, PSP, PS3 and Wii.

The only BSOD there is the 360. All the others require nothing more than the press of a button to fix.

» Heh... Faces of Death for Consoles

Nice idea. Oh, and for future reference, it's "voila" not "wala." Actually, there's supposed to be an accent mark in there over the O, but I don't feel like pulling up Character Map to look for it.

That is the error you get when you put your Xbox game in a DVD player. Sometimes it will show you a little move then show you that error, but it happens.

 » Not dead at all!

All you have to do with the PS3 and PSP is press X or O and it reboots into its default system settings with your last updates deleted. The nintendo wii one is simple all you do is restart your console and install the update again and it will fix it in 80% of the time. The xbox360 one is bricked because you cant do anything with it all you ahve to do is send it in for repair which can be annoying sometimes.

The Wii one says,

"There is a problem with the WiiConnect 24 service..."

The Wii has NOT died/crashed or otherwise failed. I can reproduce this error by firewalling the service.

The Wii Error is USER ERROR not a console error.

well.. a psp can be bricked in several ways..
i mean i tampered around a little with the pspbtcnf_game.txt file.. and it ended up running no pbp files.. that way it bricked..luckily i had custom firmware wich made me able to revive it but still

4th and 5th image say "Press O to repair or restore to default" so.... are they still dead after that?

 » holy crap

wow, bricked em all? you guys suck :S

   by Unregistered (Unregistered) - 2006-11-24
 » K

The Wii is actually bricked. You would have to send it back to Nintendo for a replacement. And the PSP isn't bricked.

Experimental versions of homebrew have their risks.
Ever since October 4th, I've been PSPless. It's a tragedy.

 » not really

HA...i laughed when i saw the x box one, thats not bricked at all put an xbox game in a dvd player and se wat comes up, and the psp is definatly not bricked as many people have said befor me. btw bricked psps dont even turn on;)

   by xche78x - 2006-11-25
 » actually

the creator of this topic compared his idea to the PC windows blue screen of death where a system will have to be restarted.
to him it is what he called "death". hence all screens are true.

   by Travisweet3 - 2006-11-25
 » well

It's possible that the psp is bricked, i was messin around with some files when i rebooted and it had that blue error screen so i just pushed o, it rebooted but came up with the same message, so pushed o, rebooted and well you get the point :P luckily i had the 2.71 SE-B and was able to recover
