Very cool review. A great Trilogy indeed...
"Bubble shields which Covenant troops often used in past games are now in your repertoire." Um, last time I checked, the covenant forces never used bubble shields in Halo or Halo 2.
What is there to be hyped about then?
Multiplayer, perhaps? In case you didn't realize, people did not play Halo2's campaign mode every day for 3 years, and people will not be playing Halo3's campaign mode for 3 years.
The hype has always been on the multiplayer.
I'm sorry...but every review I read does nothing but espouse the perfection of the graphics...and that's just not true. I have a 1080p plasma and an Elite...and this game has plenty of jaggies to go around. The graphics are average, not even as good as Gears of War.
The game's real strengths lay in it's fun multiplayer component and excellent soundtrack. I'm fine with loving the game, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking this is some sort of achievement in graphics.
Purchased and finished Halo 3 in 7 hours on easy. I played on easy purely cause I just had to know the ending. No spoilers here but a quick reference to Bungie.
Bungie originally made games for the mac and pre halo they made a really cool game called Oni. For the Mac. Perfect graphics and great control over the main character. Bungie were approached by MS and offered backing if they could deliver the goods that was to become Halo. The Marathon series is the root to Halo. Bungie themselves also state this and regard Halo as the game they always wanted to make and they finally did. They also admit to liking the scifi scenario and have stuck to an order of natural progression keeping up and taking advantage of available technology. Even at a time when the Mac was in trouble and the PC was recognised as faster Bungie continued to support the Mac platform and produce games. Many may hate MS as they make lots of cash but MS are not retards and recognized the potential in what Bungie were doing. There are games that graphically can look better, there are games that play better and there are games that people enjoy more than Halo. However none have achieved such a widespread fanatical basis bordering upon an almost religious status. This fact alone demands recognition for a game and admiration to Bungie for producing such an epic. I dont like Harry Potter but I cannot ignore the realisation that millions of others do. Halo as trilogy has achieved a status in the gaming world that is the envy of many developers. Halo 3 IMO excels in that it stays true to the concepts laid down in Halo 1 and 2. Its look and feel are the same and stay coherent. Halo 3 is more vibrant and the weapons at your disposal are more enhanced. The game really has a great feeling of satisfaction (so maybe the rolling stones should come play) I believe that people will probably play all levels of difficulty as many just as myself really want to finish the fight to know what happens so easy is the quickest route. Its replay factor is very high and 2morrow I will begin on normal. That Halo has a lot of Hype is normal these days and more often than not it is for nothing. I for one am happy to say that with Halo 3 the hype is justified for those that like sci fi and a smooth running shooter game. Gears of War is also a great game but different. Many that find GOW too gritty will probably love Halo as it is full of color and the environment pulses continually.
At this point I should stop as I am a Halo Fan and feel that others should decide for themselves. If you are not sure about the game and do not trust reviews just go visit someone who has the game and make a judgement.
I bought the game, but the controls are awfull, changing weapons with Y and using A or X sometimes for that special item you picked up somewhere(i never notice it when). Then these aliens, are so like a child of 4 has drawen them as concept. Really, and that they talk english, wtf. Maybe i don't know the story at all, but qua gameplay i don't really like it. Also all these nice colors, is it a children game? It supossed to be a serious shooter because of the serious story?. Well my opinion(so don't flame me on it) is just that i really dislike the game. I wished i could get my money back...
obviously you are highly confused...and this "children" game has confused someone who isn't a child?
X is for the special item...A is for jumping.
