World of Warcraft - Paladins want gear that's fly but not flimsy - Image 1Protection Paladins want to be more than just disco lights on the battlefield. They want to be a keeper of their namesake. They want to provide assured protection to the groups they participate in. They want to feel like Paladins.

But more importantly, they want to tank. Tanks dish out massive damage, while receiving just as much damage in return. These melee titans are what mobs and enemies are drawn to, while ranged and stealthy mates pick off the stragglers.

In order to accomplish this, tanks need to be heavily armored. Heck, if they can carry Abrams armor, they'd better wear 'em. They also need to be pumped up with lots of HP, because without enough blood to keep the show on the road, the tank is as good as a hollowed out Trojan horse: big and foreboding, but rickety and easily burned.

Now while class reviews are completely out of the question for now, Protection Paladins aren't exactly in a hopeless situation. They believe that the abilities they lack can be augmented by the right kind of gear. Problem is, none of the existing gear for the Paladin class (of either Faction) has those type of properties and enough of them for a Paladin to succeed as a tank.

So they have compiled what properties they are asking for in new gear, and highlighted the ones that they are not asking for, just in case Blizzard got confused with all the one word sentences.

Stats which protection paladins are asking for

  • Stamina
  • Defense
  • Spell damage
Stats which protection paladins are not asking for
  • Mana per 5 seconds ("MP5")
  • Intellect
  • Spirit
  • Strength
