Original Article (Posted on Jun 27, 2007 at 10:28PM)

Guys who were expecting to see the PlayStation 3's latest firmware update within the next few days may want to check their console right NOW, as FW 1.82 has been (quietly) uploaded on the net.

An expected update FW 1.82 will carry is AVC High Profile (H.264/MPEG-4) playback support, as detailed by PlayStation Network Operations Director Eric Lempel. PlayStation of the part in PS3 and operational status of the PlayStation 2 standard software were renewed. < The private search sight > with you can verify up-to-date operational status.

   Re: datnizzle (Unregistered) - 2007-06-28
 » no really

I don't care about in game xmb. My old xbox let me use my music in lots of games, the only one I used it in was Burnout. Other than racing games I like music that comes with th game, it sets the mood better. I love Sean Price, but "directors Cut" wouldn't add much to RFOM.

also brings improved Backward Compatibility it says.

Question:

Anyone here know where to find a reliable and updated list of compatible PS2 games for PAL PS3 consoles?

PS2 has better games than PS3. That's why backward compatibiltiy is a must with new firmware.

I saved $450 by keeping my PS2 and laughing at PS3 owners.

Im sure theres still MILLIONS of PS2 owners WAITING for the PS3 price drop. A lot of my friends n relatives buy these sorts of things a yr or 2 after release. shut

 » same here

I did the same thing with the ps2 i waited 2 years for the price to be dropped and it did (i was only 11 years old at the time) and the same for ps1 i waited 3 years for it to be cheaper (hehe, i was mad poor) but i bought a ps3 at launch and im lovin every day of it

Re: mr toasty (Unregistered) - 2007-06-28
 » dumbass...

Think about what you said. You bought a 360, and plan to buy an Elite. I'm no expert, but I'm fairly sure that equals more than a PS3.

Also. I'd like to point out that in 4-5 years when the PS3 slim is released, Mr Common Sense will be right there to say how unnecessary it is. Then he'll go masturbate in a corner.

Re: Mister Common Sense - 2007-06-28
 » toasty!

Actually what I said, was once MS gets the 360s problems fixed, I was going to get an elite and keep my old console for the other room. If sony could manage to have some impressive games or some sort of decent reason to get a PS3, I might get one instead. I just don't see that happening.

   Re: pssh (Unregistered) - 2007-06-28
 » lol

Mister Common Sense...you remind me of the guy in Clerks 2, you know, the one that's over 18 but lives at home, gets a ride to work from his mom, and kisses her goodbye before getting out of the car.

The same one that had to ask his youth pastor if Transformers was okay to watch because "machines turning into other machines might be an affront to the Lord".

Oh, yeah, and the same one who's never actually kissed a girl because he thinks there's trolls living in girls' mouths who bite off tongues and other body parts.

This is another great firmware update... sorry, I meant another USELESS firmware update... why bother updating my PS3 for this...

Seriously, they should try to target the largest amount of PS3 owners with the update to give something to everyone! Where is the DivX support for instance ? Everyone wants it!

 » but

WMV is M$'s property rite?

   Re: Datnizzle - 2007-06-28
 » whiners

Convert your divx movies with ps3video9 easy as hell. WMV is trash, not really different from mpg from what I see. I have programs that don't convert wmv I change the file type to .mpg from .wmv under "rename file" the programs than convert them no problem. I just downloaded "cath a fire" from axxo it's divx I used ps3video9 and 30-40 min later I was watching it on the ps3, not hard. Why would you want WMV or quicktime, I want these types of files to dissapear, they are a pain to put on about anything but your computer.

   Re: Kevin (Unregistered) - 2007-06-28
 » DivX support

well they could do this at any time im assuming that they are delaying that to keep hackers at bay because they would (and other people) would stay at that firmware. but anyways h264 is alot better than divx if you was to make a h264 video the same quality as divx it would be half the size

   Re: ... (Unregistered) - 2007-06-28
 » to datnizzle

datnizzle we would all like those formats to disappear but thats impossible, dont be stupid, u need to realize how much easier it would be if the ps3 had more video fromats

   Re: datnizzle (Unregistered) - 2007-06-28
 » no point

There is no compelling reason to put those formats on your ps3. Quicktime movies? give me a break. Divx I can see but it's so easy to convert, it's no problem. Besides why would a company that makes movies make a machine that makes it super easy to pirate said movies? By the way (noname) don't be stuoid, why would sony make it that easy for you to pirate their movies. Then ask yourself why support a format windows uses, and nearly no one else, encourage people to use M$ products, yeah right. One more thing, only speak when spoken to, thanks.

What did you expect when you're going from 1.81 to 1.82? It's going to be a very small update, with hardly any features.

1st, I dont think anyone liked the boomerang. We would have two consoles with controllers that looked like sex toys.

2nd, How is it you people are epxecting something glorious from a simple 1.81 to 1.82 update? Just be patient. Sony is probably aware of what you want, in fact, the reason why they have dominated so long is that they give the consumer what he/she wants.

Instead of deciding what the consumer wants for the consumer.
