Big Boss - Image 1In a recent interview, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots assistant producer Ryan Payton talked about the possibility of a Metal Gear Solid 5 and what will be in it when it materializes. Hints of a prequel were dropped along with insights on the franchise as a whole.

Payton pointed to some misunderstandings that people may have about MGS4. He said that the game is indeed the final chapter in the Solid Snake storyline, but there's still room for more storytelling in other time frames. Specifically, he veered to the direction of the past.

Payton commented that there's "still a lot of room for filling in the gaps as far as Big Boss is concerned." He then explained that this is a more feasible way of going about things.

"It gets to the point where if we continue on with Metal Gear Solid 5 with more Solid Snake adventures, we'll get to the point where the game has absolutely no basis in reality," comments the producer. He went on further to say:

I do like the idea that this character has had four or five big missions and then that's when it ended, rather than have 20 missions where there's no chance in hell a secret agent could ever survive.

Payton then talked about game controls and whether or not Japanese developers should adopt a more Western approach to laying them out or sticking to their formula. "I wouldn't say they need to adopt western ideas, but rather that they simply need to improve them," he said.

Finally, Payton said that everything is on track with additional content for Metal Gear Online. He said new maps and other downloadable stuff are coming soon to give players who have mastered the ones in the Starter Pack a breath of fresh air.

4 sure were gonna rescue sunny and steal big boss's body itd be awsome

 » Metal Gear Raiden?

Doesn't equal stealth. There would be no point in having an entire game dedicated to ninja raiden.

 » ninja raiden

learn your time line he's not a ninja till after he rescuse sunny AND WHATS MORE STEALTHY THAN A NINJA? lol sorry just found your statement funny. (imagine now no guns just your sword and cqc youd be forced to be stealthy)

like i understand its a great story but we kinda get the point. theres no point of going back. move forward. i say we play as johnny (akiba). and make online crazyer that would be awesome. have a kick ass MGO. then go back to having a story. just an opnion dont have to take this to the heart readers

mgs4 is "the end"
mgs3 is "the beginning"
its all about what happens in between
I don't think they could move forward yet because the story already takes place in the future give them some time 2 catch up

 » Proof?!?

In the game at a cut scene it actually shows that at least two more games are gonna be made

That is very vague. Sounds like you're making it up.

You really think 4 is the last? with it's popularity they'd be stupid a$$ f#ckers to not cash in on a 5th title...they get to charge premium price (higher than other console titles) plus they make more off console titles anyway (when compared to all other platforms - even 360 titles are cheaper than PS3 titles).

So while everyone seems to see "Raiden" in the "Jungle" and who knows what else - they see $$$$$$ and a phucking ton of it!! No denying it - I'd also be smiling if I was in their shoes...in fact I'd try pump out even longer cut scenes with less gameplay (kinda like MGS2 was to the original)...can charge an extra 10 bucks at least a pop and they'd sell like Madonna's panties.

 » hmm

interesting , imo you prolli dont own a ps3 and judging by ur "raiden in the jungle" never played # 2 or 3

Another Big Boss game would be sick. I need to see young EVA with PS3 graphics. I would even take a Raiden game. Konami should snatch up Itagaki and have him direct Ninja Raiden. How cool would it be to break into Area 51 as a ninja to save Sunny?

It'd be awesome if they remade the original MSX games.
