PSPXTI: A TI-92 Calculator emulator v1.2.0 (IR Keyboard) - Image 1

More homebrew goodness from master coder Zx-81! He's just dropped by our PSP forums informing us of another release of his PSPXTI: A TI-92 Calculator emulator, this time bringing it up to v1.2.0. This PSP homebrew is a port of Xtiger, a unix emulator of Texas Instrument's TI-92 calculator originally created by Jonas Minnberg. Zx-81 managed to tweak it only after Misha Nasledov made it open sourced.

Anyway, we have a very lean changelog for this version, but that doesn't make it any less important. On the contrary, I personally think that with this update, Zx-81 has made a huge leap in making this port stand out. Why? Well PSPXTI v1.2.0 now has IR keyboard support. The good developer has a few reminders about using this though, here they are:
  • You need the rom of your TI-92 or TI-92 plus, but it is NOT part of the PSPXTI package because it is the property of Texas Instruments
  • This version works 1.5 and custom firmware 3.X-OE
  • It's distributed under GNU licence and sources are included
  • It has been developed on linux for Firmware 1.5 and 3.03-OE, and for the IR keyboard part it has been tested using a Targus Universal IR Wireless keyboard
That should clear any confusion regarding this application. However, for installation and instructions on how to use this, make sure you go over the readme file included in the download link below. There's also a PDF version of the TI-92 manual available in the PSP forum thread (also below), so you might want to take a look at that too.

QJ is getting lame bout psp....and badfully, ZX-81, one of my favorite coders, is getting a little lame too since he has everything he wanted working (maybe exept for gba...) so he has nothing to do more than working on the same GREAT ONES ever and ever again instead of creating new helpfully apps !!!!! Sorry but i feel a lot better now...

I don't see the point ? Do you mean that adding Ir-keyboard support on this calculator emulator is nothing ?

It surely useless for you if you don't own a PDA keyboard, but i've to say that to use this calculator with a Targus keyboard is really cool ;)
