We got a big boost in the amount of homebrew PSP news this week, thanks in no small part to the NeoFlash Spring Coding Compo. Whether you're looking for games and time-wasters or some useful apps for your PSP, we have 'em all here.

HOMEBREW APPS
  • Feeling stressed? Smash your PSP up! Not in the literal sense of course. Instead, use the Smash My PSP! homebrew app. Link.
  • Another update for prxutility, one of the many the handy plugins that gives you your PSP info straight up. Link.
  • Homebrew dev Torch has put together a new pack that contains Lockdown , Lockdown In-Game, and Lockdown XMB Style in one nice little bundle of security. Link.
  • PSP users usually have a love-it-or-hate-it relationship when it comes to shells. XMBShell's feature list is impressive enough, however, that you may want to check it out. Link.
  • It's not quite there yet, but the PSPAR to CWCheat Converter is making some headway towards a a full release. This week we got an update that added batch conversion to the app's features list. Link.
  • The Java-based PSP emulator jpcsp also saw an update, this time getting various improvements and some new compatibility options. Link.
  • Homebrew dev JDawson returned this week with another portal called Hybrid i5.  has a lot of features you won't normally find in others, like password protection, a file browser and loader, and even a Media Bar with a built-in messenger. Link.
  • Do you feel like the PSP screen's just too small? Output your PSP games onto your PC with RemoteJoyLite, then. Link.
HOMEBREW GAMES
  • The PSP port of the Flash game Ragdoll Cannon got three (link) different (link) updates (link) this week. Yowza!
  • Wagic: The Homebrew?! got updated with 300 new cards, improved AI, and a new difficulty mode. All that and a bunch of bugfixes as well. Link.
  • Here's something for the Sonic fans:  Sonic Aeroboard, a Sonic the Hedgehog-themed arcade shooter game. Link.
  • The iPhone game Cube Runner makes the jump to the PSP thanks to homebrew developer a_noob. Link.
  • Those who've been enjoying Rubik's Cube games will be happy to know that PSP homebrew dev EXTER just upped his PSP Rubik's Cube to v1.4. Link.
  • The devs behind Apollonia, a top-down homebrew airstrike game for the PSP, released a maintenance release to pave the way for cooler effects in the future. Link.
One final thing: if you're looking to enter the world of homebrew, check out the latest in our How-To series: Legality 101 (part 1) (part 2), a look at what homebrew devs could and should watch out for in stirring up their own 'brew.
