It is too early to conclude whether Sony's pricing action will cause game developers to increase the pipeline of new PSP titles; however, several publishers publicly called on Sony to lower the PSP price and broaden the consumer end market. At the new $169 price, we note that the PSP is still $40 higher than Nintendo's DS. |

Of course its going to be higher than the DS. The PSP's hardware is better. I hope they're not calling on Sony to drop the price of the PSP to the same level as the DS, as its going to be like asking Mercedes Benz to drop the price of its cars to the same price point as a Toyota.

because even though cars of the Toyota brand are cheaper they're better (they just don't look high class).
Reasons: Waste less gasoline, stronger against impacts, more durability.

well, here in Hungary core units cost almost like $ 270.
so I hope the pricedrop-wave will reach Europe too...

i live in europe right now and this price reduction will not affect the psp units here. the ps3 also costs 600€ (which is a little more than $800) and psp games here always start at around 50 to 55€ (versus 35 to 40 bucks in the u.s.). i'm so sick of $ony ripping off it's customers. for that reason, in my opinion, mod chips, oe firmware, etc. are justified. i have close to about 500 ps1, ps2 and psp games that $ony has "donated" to my personal entertainment collection. thanks for all the free games. $ony screws us up front but we're the ones who end up screwing them back in the end!!!
