New Goblin playable in Spider-Man 3: Collector's Edition - Image 1

We've been inundated with Spider-Man 3 content lately, whether it be interviews with the developers, screenshots, or trailers; and you're probably thinking it cannot get much better. Well, for PS3 gamers, it just has. These interviews and other media apply to all versions of the game, but today we have learned that PS3 owners will be given special treatment by Activision with a PS3-exclusive version titled Spider-Man 3: Collector's Edition.

What will we get in this Collector's Edition, you ask? Well, Activision and Sony have teamed up to offer a ton of bonus features including webisodes from the Spider-Man 3 movie, an exclusive interview with producer Avi Arad, and behind the scenes talks with Tobey Maguire, Topher Grace, Thomas Haden Church, James Franco, JK Simmons, and Bruce Campbell who were involved with development. If that enormous list doesn't tickle your fancy then maybe access to special Spider-Man 3 trailers plus other goodies yet to be revealed will.

Brace yourselves - here comes the biggy. Players will also get the chance to play another character in the Collector's Edition known only as "New Goblin." The SIXAXIS controller will be utilized as you swing through the city at unprecedented high speeds even the wonderful Spider-Man cannot achieve. The "New Goblin" character will have 10 exclusive missions and will also be able to participate in so-called "Crime Events" across the city.

More information on this new character and how it will interface with the SIXAXIS controller should be on its way soon, but until then you'll have to check on our previous coverage to learn more about this upcoming title.

OMG what's this? Sony is doing something right? What a great idea, fill the bluray disc with extras that cannot be offered on other systems. Sony needs to concentrate on these strengths in their system in order to shine. There is a good competition going on right now and I would say it is anyones game at this point. If Sony wants to remain strong they are going to have to continue a strong marketing presence with offering things only obtainable through PS3 hardware. Good Job guys!

Love the extra's, hate how its in the collector's edition not just the regular version.

 » Oh god...

Great.. another useless iteration of the SIXAXIS. Its sad that they have to resort to describing a Next gen 'special edition' of a game as comprised of 'trailers', and, oh my god, 'interviews'. Jesus, another 360 port of a game that gets screwed over. Lets see 360:Achievements, Online awareness, and actual ability to play in a HD resolution that peoples' TV's have, or PS3: Motion controlled extra missions, no PSn support,no rumble, no replay value and HD hassle, all for est. . Yeah... 360 version ftw.

Yeah the PS3 is getting a etter version and your just pissed the 360 wont get that same stuff. good idea jackass, list all the stuff the 360 has such as the of so powerful live. it was just excellent from the beginning wasn't it. the 360 had all this out of the box. wrong 360 had to get updates for some of that ***** just like the PS3 will.next time you try and put something down, try not to say something you have absolutely no idea about. you only make yourself look dumb

I don't think this guy knows that the Spiderman game is actually being ported from the PS3 to the Xbox360

Don't be stupid, it's not just new missions, its a whole new character to use retard ;).

 » All for tilt?

Could it be that the exclusive character is included to take advantage of the tilt function? A flying character would suit the SIXAXIS and would be an experience not possible on XBox360 or PC.

 » No PS2 compatibilityy for PAL Ps3

Well now they have REMOVED PS2 compatibility from the PAL Ps3 they need to add something.

Learn to read, stupid.

They switched from PS2 hardware to PS2 EMULATION. They have not removed it.

right, because xbox360 or the PC has never ever had a game that required the player to fly a character, plane or missles... because actual flying is soooo much more associated with moving your hands up and down, you get the feeling that your flying while your sitting on your couch... sixaxis is a complete gimmick.. funny how we all thought the wiimote would be the gimmick.. guess sony jumped the shark to quick.

What is so great about rumble, i just dont get it. SIXAXIS is way more important to me and i hope it gets used more (WHICH IT IS). I think this is a great extra. Flying round NY on a board using my hands to control pwns for me.

360 fanboys will always say that this is S-H-I-T but there you go, we just gotta live with it

Re: Nancy from Spain (Unregistered) - 2007-02-23
» Rumble and Feedback are essential FULL STOP

Hmmm I have neither machine( I have a Wii) But to say that the rumble and feedback is not important is bull*****, NAME ONE driving game where rumble/feedback is not needed for realism and I will call you a liar, this also goes for games like boxing/tekken etc.

   Re: mert (Unregistered) - 2007-02-23
» FS very wrong PS3 owners WANT rumble

I dont think you will find just 360 fanboys say games are ***** without rumble, Sony dont want to pay for it but look at all PS3 sites they WANT rumble etc.

if the PS3 could cure cancer 360 fanboys would probably say it created cancer, hence why PS3 could cure it so easy.

:D

   Re: rety (Unregistered) - 2007-02-23
» Wrong but I wish you were right

If the PS3 could cure cancer then surly they would have an answer to NO rumble or feedback?.

 » well

Sony does have the rights to the spiderman film content... so it's prob fair that they've got a 'special edition' for their system.

 » Bingo!!!

Even the logos match, remember.
That and the extra blu-ray room didn't hurt.

**** Sony and their BS. I'd enjoy playing as the new Goblin (though his costume does look like trash), but I'm not paying an extra $10 for it - anybody remember Green Goblin in Spider-Man 1? Hope the Pos3'ers enjoy.
