PS3 Pre-order

The rumors are true. And if you do not have a PS3 preorder receipt from Gamestop or EBGames you won't ever get one now. Just 24 hours after the top video game stores announced that they would be accepting PS3 pre-orders from today, Tuesday, October 10 they have sold out. The stores wanted a lump sum of $ 100 for a preorder of Sony's next generation Playstation console which will hit the shelves of North American stores on November 17th this year and only a limited number of PS3 consoles were available for each EBGames/Gamestop store, leading gamers into a mini-lottery that they had a very small chance of winning.

The more addicted gamers from across the US camped out overnight and were first in the stores when they opened to pay their $ 100 deposit and get a place on the golden PS3 pre-order list for the $ 599 60GB version of the console, fighting crowds, and limited supply which ranged from four at a store (in Detroit) to 16 (at a store in Seattle, Washington).

A Gamestop representative told IGN that each store had a quota of "no less than eight pre-orders or up to 16. The number allocated is based on store location and traffic." The rep went on to state that currently pre-orders for PS3 were closed. Currently, there are no pre-orders available in Canada but the representative did say that Canadian PS3 pre-orders will be "available as soon as possible." But surely if no store had less than eight pre-orders, how did that store a Detroit only have four available? Let's hope that it wasn't those dreaded EBGames employees buying all the stock.

Doesnt sound like a very good launch. I doubt Sony are very happy with this.
I doubt Sony wanted to rush the PS3 out the door but I guess they had no choice.

Either way, I'm a PC user, doesn't affect me.

 » lucky you...

I live in Canada and our pre-orders doesn't start yet. But the head employee at my EBGames told me that today 100 peoples at least have called to reserve one. And with the last 3 months he see that 75% of his costumers are interested to buy a PS3 ASAP.

If your in NY you can go to the Sony store at Madison, But you have to be their at least 24 hours before the stores open. I remember when I went over to get the ps2 I was the last person to acquire one., I fled and took a cab.

 » #1 in line, 12am camped out!!!

I am so excited. I went at 12am and didn't care that the first wave of people came at 5am.... I am SOOO freakin' relieved!!!!!!!!!!!!

for those who have yet to get a ps3, keep checking amazon.com, and check eastluna.com and kbtoys.com near launch date.... Both Eastluna and Amazon allow you to give the your email address to be notified of availability... If you have text messaging, you might be able to do what I did ... I have verizon and my email address for my text messaging is mynumber@vtext.com ... You can then receive emails... so you are on immediate notice...

» PS3 sold in minutes you got that? :P

yup yup, its true. all the gamers in the US of A are waiting for this PS3 preorder. And when it happened only a few lucky one's did manager to reserve. Thank goodness i was able to check qj.net last night hahaha.

my brother fall in line this morning around 4:00AM. and there's like 4 gamestop and 1 electronic boutique in daly city (near san francisco). his #3 in the line...coz some of the stores has 11 people already. and this xbox owner was behind him and the girlfriend #4, #5...planning to sell the PS3 online. hmmm...why folks tried to despise the PS3 and in the long run wants to sell it too. Because if you do that you are promoting the PS3 right? :D anyway, as long as its money they don't care i guess...hehe.

Amazing news for Virtua Fighter 5 fans (believe me)

http://www.hk-vf.net/tv/index.html

This site which is maintained by SEGA Co. has about 3,000 high quality VF5 replays which have been played on the Sega Lindbergh arcade machines in Japan. Sega Lindbergh machines are much powerful than X360 but a bit weaker than PS3. At the site above, the name of replay files are like, FN_02985; and this means it’s 2985th file. They’re adding about 10 new replays every single day. You can also check how good the players are at the start of each round. Some of the world’s best fighting gamers have stats like 2,000 wins 500 losses (against other human players).

I’ll tell you how to download streaming movie files online.

You must have FlashGet (totally free).
After installing it, right mouse click the name of the files (e.g.: SHU(SH)_vs_(SA) 25.5M).
In the ‘property’ you can copy the URL address of the streaming movie file.

javascript:callleftvideo('mms://www.hk-vf.net/vf5_rev.1/SHU_vs_SARAH_04.wmv')
only pick out the core portion
mms://www.hk-vf.net/vf5_rev.1/SHU_vs_SARAH_04.wmv

In FlashGet, enter the address and download (press F4) all 3,000 movies you want.

After watching as many as movies you can, you can post feedbacks or small thanks note at QJ here in comment boxes.

I found out about the news last night, and I had to go to Albany for further training in my job. I fortunately gave someone my $100 and had them wait in line to get me my PlayStation 3. So I was technically number 6 of 12 at my local store, and I got the 60GB model.
