PSPIt seems that the PSP homebrew scene is having a dry spell of some sort lately, so TyRaNiD released his latest homebrew app to keep the action going. It's one nifty app called PRXTool (it's the first version, by the way), and according to the readme, it has a wide range of functions such as:

  • It can output an IDC file for use in IDA Pro
  • It can output an ELF file from a PRX
  • It can also disassemble the PRX into a pretty printed form.
To install, the dev says you just have to do "the old ./bootstrap and ./configure thing, then type make or gmake". Here's an example lifted, again, from the readme:

Example:
./bootstrap; ./configure; make; make install

Got that? You can try it out for yourself by downloading TyRaNiD's homebrew app below. Enjoy!

 » DRy spell!!!??

WTF, dry spell.

 » I think.... yeah, I see it!

With no new emulators and no homebrew (other then updates to games mostly coded in LUA), I would say its been rather dry. X-Flash 16b and the OverClock mod are the only noteworthy homebrew to come out in recent days for me.

I miss stuff like "new pspradio and links2!" and "rin now with wifi multiplayer!". (Wait, I don't think that last one happened! ) The only really big thing that I know about that is going to come out soon is going to be IRShell 2.2SE. Now THAT is truly awesome, don't miss it and be sure to thank Ahman for his continued work and generousity!

 » out awhile now..

This has been out awhile, not new at all. I have it on my computer for 6 months now...Good for reverse engineering the PSP operating system files.

All it does really is let you open prx files in IDA since opening PRX files in IDA will cause an error if you load it non binary.

You open the prx as binary file (no file format) and set the file offset to 0x80, then you create an IDC file for that prx from prxtool, then run that IDC file from IDA and your prx is now loaded properly in IDA.

 » Real-world example?

For the newbie, what is a real world example of this application doing something?

 » @ Confused1

It's just another version/modification to IDA (Infrared remote controll tool) to read PRX files properly.

 » sigh

if you dont understand what a prx is or ida..... this is NOT for you. so dont even bother askin what it does as it would go right OVER your head and youll be left saying....wha?
