gps shoesPanic rooms are so last century, it seems. Personal tracking gadgets are becoming a big hit to billionaire geeks, ordinary geeks, and overprotective parents nowadays and that's probably the reason why inventor Sayo Isaac Daniel has concocted a pair of shoes that feature a built-in GPS Panic Button.

Yup, this pair may look like your garden-variety leather footwear. But the panic button, which is what makes it a standout, will allow the wearer to alert someone of their whereabouts in case something awful happens to them.

For parents, they would have to decide if they would instruct their kiddies to turn on the panic button in case something's wrong or if they would just make the kids believe that they are wearing regular shoes so they can be tracked easier, say when they are in a house party or something.

Interested? A company called Quantum Satellite Technology is planning to sell them this coming March for less than US$ 350 a pair. Parents would have a few months to decide about what to do with it.

 » Yeah

How exactly do the work? Is it a loud panic button sound, or a silent signal that travels via satellite to a PC? I don't really understand how this works. Do the shoes require batteries? Can they be racharged? Are the shoes being constantly tracked, or only when the button is pressed? Can the button be pressed insconspicously? Ahhhh!

 » Where are the VCs?

When a idea comes along that makes sense and the proposed selling price is $350 this limits the market.

Venture Capitalists where are you? An aggressive investment to drive the cost down can only make
the product more appealing an affordable too more consumers.

The safety of our children should be an investment VCs should see as not charitable but honorable in providing something are future needs.
