OperaA lucky guy named Jon got a chance to try out a beta version of the Opera web browser. Luckily, Jon used his powers for good and wrote an in-depth review on the browser.

The key features of the browser are highlighted including the "dual screen mode" in which users can view a webpage on both screens. With a tap of the stylus, users can enter "zoom" mode in which the top screen features a scaled-down view of the entire webpage and the bottom screen features a scrollable zoomed-in view.

The review is very positive and easy to use, making Jon feel "as comfortable browsing on the DS as I do on my desktop at home." Sounds like Nintendo hit a home run by working with Opera.

The browser will be available in Japan on July 24th for about $33 USD. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy!

#1: I don't think so because the Opera browser uses it's own memory card in the bottom slot.

But man I can't wait to get my hands on this. I really hope Lik-Sang.com has it available on launch.

» A few questions about this browser...

I suppose not many have been able to try this browser out yet, but I am curious about how the NDS Opera browser compares to the PSP web browser. Does this browser have the ability to use downloadable plugins and/or Flash player support?

Honestly rd261, if you need to make an argument, don't bring something assinine like who's copying who in web browsing to the table. In all honesty, the PSP copied PDAs. And PDAs? Well, they copied laptops. Well what about desktops? And so on and so forth. Opera on the DS (and potentially the Wii) is a step removed from Sony's homemade web browser and it might push the mobile internet envelope as far as the handheld market is concerned not to say that the PSP's browser is anything to scoff at. The real question, I suppose, is do you really need a we browser built-in to everything? This isn't a necessity but a luxury, so why even bother making comparisons?
