On Blu-ray This Week: The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep, The 6th Day, and Yukikaze - Image 1

Couch potatoes, gather around. We've got the newest batch of goodies for your Blu-ray home entertainment system and they're pretty much varied - you'll just see how varied in a bit.

This week's Blu-ray releases include a documentary, an anime, plus movies from genres ranging from sci-fi, comedy, fantasy, and interactive animation. Varied, yes? We'll be seeing National Geographic documentary on sharks called Sharkwater, comedy Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, interactive animated feature Space Ace, and fantasy film The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, among others, on shelves starting this week.

Let's take a closer look at some of the titles gracing the shelves: fighter plane anime Yukikaze, fantasy The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep, and sci-fi The 6th Day.

The Loch Ness monster or Nessie is shelved with other mythical creatures like the Abominable Snowman (Yeti), Sasquatch (Bigfoot), and well, Tikbalang and with good reason. We haven't really seen a real one. But what if it's real? The 2007 film The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep tells the story of a young boy named Angus, who finds a mysterious egg on the banks of the famous loch (lake). Imagine a pet of Godzilla proportions plus a lake conveniently located near your house: pet food is really the least of your problems.

Do you like Namco Bandai's Ace Combat video games? If you do, you'll probably like Bandai Visual's five-episode OVA, Yukikaze (or Sento Yosei Yukikaze). This high-flying anime centers on pilot Rei Fukai and his fighter plane Yukikaze. The film is set in a future where aliens try to invade the Earth by opening a portal over Antarctica and sending forces through it. It's up to Rei Fukai and his trusty fighter, plus the rest of the SAF (Special Air Force) to get rid of the alien menace.

According to Genesis (Bible), God created man on the sixth day of creation and well, the movie The 6th Day, centers on people cloning themselves and other people. Meet Adam Gibson, who comes home to find another him with his family. Confused, disoriented, and chased by people who are trying to kill him, Adam has to find out who cloned him and put a stop to it before the clone takes over his life.

There you have it for this week's Blu-ray releases. Here's the complete list of titles coming out this week:
