Xbox 360, PS3 - Image 1According to the OTX GamePlan Insights provided to Gamasutra, those who own the Xbox 360 version of an original are abandoning ship and going for the PS3 version of its sequel.

Two titles at the top of that list are Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, and PC) and Assassin's Creed 2 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC), which will be released on both consoles. If the analysis has it right, the Xbox 360 gamers are now switching over to the PS3 side.

The data from OTX reveals that of those getting Assassin's Creed 2 for the PS3, 15% got the first title for the Xbox 360. On the other side of the fence, only 7% of those who have AC1 on PS3 are getting AC2 for the Xbox 360. "The PS3 seems poised to shift the ratio of Xbox 360 to PS3 sales for most major multi-platform releases in its favor among dual owners," says OTX analyst Nick WIlliams.

The data, of course, applies only to gamers who have both consoles. With the surge of PS3 sales since the price cut and the Slim, there are certainly more PS3 owners now than before, and among them are Xbox 360 owners. With both consoles in the gaming rig and games coming at the same retail price, it basically boils down to consumer preference as to which version is purchased. Lucky for the PS3, new PS3 owners want more games for their new Slim.

We'll know more once these two come out:

Not many, its not the good old days where people actually cared what others comment.

I would consider getting AC2 for ps3 but definitely not MW2. I feel uncomfortable playing FPS games on the PS3. I've gotten too used to the 360 controller

i second that. and too me the sticks on all ps pads are crappy and dont respond like xbox ones and the placement of the xbox sticks feels more natural

The PS3 controllers is perfectlx fine for playing FPs, however I prefer 360, too. oh and a f*ck you at the PS3 fanbyos rating down the comment of FABLE.

I think the reason why

I think the reason why many users are switching is the improving online experience. many users used Xbox Live because it was better. Now that PSN is nearly equal, many users don' t want to pay for XBL.
Additionally, the PS3 userbase growed, you can play with more people.

Yeaaa you right im use to the 360 controler too. I was told by a friend not to long ago you can get a 360 controller to work on ps3 through USB, but i dont know if that is true because i have to see it to believe it. lol but if it is i will try that out, not to mention everyone knows 360's are just going to fail and RROD due to constant use while playing those new awesome games. Thats why everything i got will be switching to ps3. I will only get 360 exclusives, but everything else thats on both consoles will be on ps3 for me!

 » That's why I buy 360 too

The controller (especially for shooters) and because all my friends are on 360, I really don't know too many people with PS3s.

I have all the PS3 exclusive games, and a few games that are so amazing I wanted to play them again on PS3, like Bioshock which has some cool PS3 exclusive DLC.

@silver tiger: "growed" lol, grew man...i know...im just being a picky bastard :D

Seiusly guys we all know and agreed that PS3 is powerful than Xbox360 , but Xbox 360 is a great console too alitle comerial orianted but great ,

My analissis tell that now that most Xbox360 player according me playing forza 3 and saying its powerfull a lot of us gona be blowed after the 1st GT5 acceleration , have ask your self why forza lack of weather , night redering , life efect ( blure , mist , and heat ) .

i think the Final XBOX360 VS PS3 comparison is coming soon , and from what i saw in video about GT 5 , i think all Xbox 360 players should keep their Xbox and buy a PS3 for maximum enjoyment .

excuse my english lol .

I for one am guilty for jumping off the Xbox bandwagon to get on the PS3's. I brought AC1 and MW1 for Xbox but I'll switch to PS3 for both sequels. Mainly because for MW2 I dont want to worry about paying my xbox live gold fee once that runs out next month so I'd rather play onlie for free on the PS3, Not any real reason for AC2 though, I just can't really imagine any major differences between ps3 and 360 version, howevewr since I got my ps3 after I got my Xbox I want to build up the game library a bit more.

   Re: papajag - 2009-11-05
 » ...

For me I only buy most of the online games(sports, CoD) for my PS3 and some games that look better on PS3. Otherwise, games like the upcoming Bayonetta, where the 360 has better performance, I get for the 360 still. Capcom sucks at developing for the PS3 this gen.

   Re: LitoDaTaru - 2009-11-05
 » Re: Papajag

I agree with your logic. I'm very surprised at Bayonetta's sales-- reports say the PS3 version sold 93,000 units on its first day while the Xbox version sold 45,000 units.

can't reply to a reply :/
   by hush404 - 2009-11-05
» I guess that makes sense.

I use my PS3 as my main system, so any multi-platform game is purchased for that system unless there's something broken about the title on the PS3 (like lost planet).

I use my 360 mainly for exclusives to that machine. Like Mass Effect :)

I'm getting AC2 for the PS3 and when/if I decide to pick up MW2 then it will no doubt be on PS3 as well.

Unfortunately no poll containing either the 360 or PS3 can be taken seriously because of the fanboy factor. But they make for good discussion anyway. Unless your brain dead like the poster above me.

 » I buy more 360 titles

I really enjoy both systems but games I will play online I always get for the 360 bc although psn is okay it is honestly not as good as xbox live. I have also found that I really enjoy getting achievements for some reason and the PS3's trophy system is obviously a bad afterthought to copy Microsoft. I will say that graphically the PS3 is superior but it's not taken advantage of on multi platform titles.

   Re: blkthunda - 2009-11-05
 » ..

So you rather have numbers than trophies? I feel that numbers make it feel incomplete when I go look at my gamerscore where as if I have a missing trophy it doesn't feel like I'm missing anything.

   Re: narutosaiyan - 2009-11-05
 » i agree

trophies are better. its just a good feeling when u see that platinum. also lets not start arguing about who copies who because we all know where that ends up. n about the graphics thing... i dont think developers want to make different games when they go multiplat. think what would happen if mw2 was made using the max power of ps3, it would look like kz2, but that would piss off xbots because it wont be the same on their console. Anyway i think that ff13 is one of those games where they use the ps3 to make it n then do it for 360. hence multiple discs

The gaming industry, if not majority of business's ALWAYS copy things from their competitor. It what drives better things for the consumers who buys them; Especially in the gaming industry.

The more and more a competitor closes the gap to the other with features, the battle rages even harder pushing better things for the users who buys the console and games. While it doesn't help much for MS and Sony on an individual, it does for the consumers like myself.

Personally I love trophies. they remind me of medals when playing olympics.
But, I do understand if someone who had a big gamerscore/achievements first to bother trying to get their trophy count up.

» I really am starting to wonder if we're about to see a new xbox

Either a bunch of devs are holding off on releasing stuff until natal comes out. Or we're seeing the devs holding back until the new 360 is released. I've seen nothing inspirational coming out on the 360 for about a year or so I guess. ODST was ok but it was no killer app, being based off the Halo3 engine which came out how long ago? Meanwhile in that same period we've seen Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2 on the PS3, which have both been monster blows to the xb360 street cred. The main thing stopping me from buying a PS3 at the moment is the media center extender stuff if PS3 had their PVR TV recording stuff out here, I'd be seriously be considering a PS3.

   Re: avatar76 - 2009-11-05
» Oh and thanks for voting me down

360 fanboys I'm guessing, don't judge me own more 360 games then probably anyone who disagrees with me here.

   Re: Master Chef - 2009-11-06
 » lulz

I disagree with you (tho I didn't vote on your comment), I own 62 Xbox 360 games. Can you top that?

I'd say both consoles have not had too many amazing exclusives in the past year, save for Uncharted 2, that's a great game. I'd agree that ODST was a good game but not a killer app, but so was KZ2, nothing earth-shattering about that game, both just typical FPSs. Well maybe not typical since they're both much better than average, but you know what I mean. Aim gun, shoot, repeat 50,000 times.

Almost all the great games are multiplat now, and I don't think that's ever gonna change from here on out.

   Re: danielakadanny - 2009-11-06
 » damn!

(suggesting that you bought your games at $60 each) you have used $3720 on games!
   by BloodMachine - 2009-11-05
 » Who wouldn't?

The PS3 has more power, if you've got both you may as well run it on the more powerful one. Of course, some games bug out more on PS3, in which case they're to be avoided...

   by Bountyhunter53 - 2009-11-06
 » So.....

From this i can assume that everyone on X360 are gonna move to the PS3? Well sooner or later....

If you think logically this rate at this is happening will go up until a point but that means 50% of X360 users will get a PS3 this year.
