your retarted
Spoken like a true retard! Your should be replace by you're, you gay retard.
That's retarded*, with a D, you retard.
I don't really care about the PSP2 and whether or not it may or may not have a hard drive right now. I won't likely care until there is any sort of confirmation from Sony that such a thing is going to happen.
However, I would love to be able to get a very small and portable hard drive. Flash memory is great and all, but hard drives have always been cheaper for equivalent (or even much greater) capacity.
I live here in Korea and if there is one thing I know, tech companies or any company for that matter, will use brand recognition to allude to a particular use. For example, a store front with a Nike poster and 3 dollar shoes inside (minus any Nike fakes, those are 15 bucks;)). So, this only means some guy in a room said,"Hey, we might be able to sell this to SCE and because of that we should show it in our presentation."
QJ....that psp DOES say PSP in the sony text...... or im just blind, ill pull out photozoom.
i just photozoomed it (upres/upscale) and it either says DSD or PSP, and please, look at that thing, it even has the same metallic ring.
what's the big deal about samsung making a 1.8" hdd, toshiba and hitachi have been making them for years. perhaps you've heard of the ipod...
the writers at QJ live in the past
damn thats one ugly cartoon lady playing the psp...
true dat.
dude......look at the picture...sony is smart, they will make another design for it... and with a hardrive, how HEAVY WILL THAT BE? ......wow......
i dont think they will hcange the design cuz they didnt change the design of the playstation remote that much.
Wouldn't it use up alot of the battery consumption? >_>
Memory sticks are fine the way it is because I ain't buying a new PSP.
nice little piece of technology.. but in my opinion i dont think that would be on the psp2 if there ever was one... only cause of the power consumption of a HDD... it would be more practical as an attachment with its own battery perhaps? i dont know just was thinking about it. 60gb dam its more hard drive space than in my comp at the moment haha...
They come out with PSP 2 making PSP obsolte, I will not have money for it so I will be stuck with a 250 bucks piece of crap with 2 games, and PSP2 will be a succes since I don't have that one!
For PSP2 maybe ok(meaning next-gen PSP)....
but not on this PSP that we already know... Sony already has a hard time selling PSP (compared to NDS) they won't come out with another version of PSP like the NDS and NDS lite.
well that isn't anything new.... ipods have had them for quite sometime not to mention for the cardbus on laptops....er at least they are supposedly being made but damned if i can even find one for sale anywhere..heh
but i dunno.... getting rid of the new umd drive would render all umd games already bought , useless. Unless they allow you to image the disk and put it onto the hard drive.... but oh well.....we shall see...
tbh i reckon its just a typical korean advert spin - read: nothing to do with the PSP, nor affliated with sony.
I happens alot here, there's a bank advertising a "I love Man-United" credit card.. with Man-U footy players and logos etc... undoutbly with no royalties being forwarded to good ol' Man-U.
So yeah... don't hold your breath... koreans will use anything to get attention esp when money is involved regardless of IPs or Rights ;>
but you never know.
if this were real, and sony did annonce that a psp with HD will be released, what kind of psp will it be..
1. Will it come out with yet another motherbord, (I think it will because it needs more memory for more things, right now its reaching the limit)
2. What kind of firmwire? If this thing has a HD, obviously its gonna have new icong in the XMB saying HD or somthing + more, to other PSPs its usless.
3. This HD is tiny! I cant imagine it using lots of power, i think the UMD uses more power than the HD.
4. Will the changes only be the HD? no, i think the new PSP would have somthing like a higher res screen to watch higher quality formats like DivX?
5. I think they might keep the UMD drive, just because it has a HD doesnt mean they will get rid of the UMD, why would they?
6. This thing will be very *****ing secure, they would put alot of effort in this to try to stop the homebrew...
7. The HD drive might have some kind of security only allowing videos with a code to play. Like the PS1 on PSP needed a code to play (but we all know thats been hacked :P)
8. SO! a new PSP is not BAD!! I think a new PSP will be made for not gaming, but media like movies music. The PSP now they will focus on gaming more... SO maybe they PSP /PSP2 will be suited for different people.!! who knows!!

Why infect other people with your stupidity? Pretty much every point you've made shows complete ignorance of everything or came to a conclusion that even vegetables think is obvious.
1. More memory yes, but how about the obvious I/O chipset to interface to the PSP as its pretty doubtful they'll run it over the MS Duo interface.
2. How is a new icon in the XMB going to make it incompatible to others? I don't have that gay camera but still have the icon, or maybe they'll have the brains to treat it the same way they currently treat MSs and only appear when they are plugged in.
3. Tiny does not mean low power you *****, your processor is pretty feckin small but can draw up to 100watts depending on the model. Size makes bugger all difference on the power requirements, chances are though that Samsung will have designed it with power consumption in mind as it is clearly orientated towards the portables market.
4. Were you expecting an answer here or something? Newsflash: nobody *****ing knows if there's even going to be a PSP2, let alone what res the screen has.
5. See above knobhead
6. ***** me, did you really come to the conclusion that Sony would have to consider security if they put in a HDD all by yourself?
7. So now videos would have to be secured as well? Why? That makes no *****ing sense. Sony is worried about isos, not videos.
8. ***** me, you've now decided which direction Sony will be going with its PSP, based on absolutly no facts and that malformed heap of ***** you call a brain.
Do people a favour and keep your opinion to yourself as you are clearly an idiot of the greatest proportion.
i was rofling while i read thatXD
Ok, the part about the "revolutionary" 1.8" harddisks is kind of funny, considering they are in laptops and iPods for years now. The smaller sizes (40gb and 60gb) are quite easily available, even on eBay.
I'm holding an old one from my laptop that broke to my PSP right now. They are tiny, but still reach about 1cm over the UMD slot (that's without a cable attached of course). So I can't see them manufacturing a new PSP with UMD and harddisk for size and power consumption reasons. Also, Sony is notorious about sticking to their proprietary technologies, even though they are proven to be dead.
Guess it would be cool, but how about buying a game in stores then. They would need to setup a completely new system for that, because they can't piss of the big chains by only allowing downloads directly from their store.
So, in a nutshell, I don't see this happening with the PSP (or another portable) for quite some years to come.
screw psp just give me like 40GB memory stick, so i can put movies, mp3s, and a car load of homebrew, isos, and psx games XDDDD!!! that'd serously pwn.
I'm pretty sure sony won't use these in the psp2, i'll give you one reason- the hdd's cost to much batteries. That's why they don't use them anymore for ipod's and mp3 players.
They are more likely to use flash memory, it's faster takes up less power and is compacter.
the psp in the picture has two silver rings around the PSP logo on the back of the PSP, where as the current PSP has only one ring.
The "two" rings in that picture outline the inner and outer parts of ONE ring ;) It would make more sense if they colored it in I guess..
I can read Korean Well ;)
this is so gay. current ipods use 1.8hd so wtf is new here????
Hitachi and toshiba make the 1.8hds with hundreds of GBs. btw this 1.8hd from toshiba are ***** I repeat they ARE ***** just ask anyone with a ipod whos hd die after a yr or need to be slap so it can start spinning again.
the psp2 should use flash memory instead of hd. is extermely thin and more reliable than the 1.8hds and they use less power. so wtf this thread is so gay
Hitachi hds are gooooood but ipod use only the cheap ***** from toshiba.
the best hd in the world are the ibm hds but too bad they stop making them. why u think thinkpads are so reliable :D
i believe what it shows is a hard drive smaller, more space, and more reliable.
btw, i live in seoul, korea. ive seen these adds around.
(OPINION! not a fact)
korean businesses have always been attempting to create a rival production since the super nintendo. the korean's PMP (portable media player) has nearly the EXACT features of a PSP minus the UMD gameplay. this advertisement is used to simulate the possibilities of this new technological enhancement.
simply enough: business. when sony sees this add what do you think their reactions will be? they want to sell these babies to SONY or whoever other company, using the unknown device which most likely relates to the PSP. its competition. they probably expect the rumors which will cause smaller rivaling companies to stand up and run down our favorite SONY product.
well.. you dont have to believe me.
Why use a HDD, It's susceptible to corruption and kills battery life. There's already NAND flash memory which is like 32gb.
its 32 MB not GB..
Just think, any moving parts take up much more power than non-moving parts such as falsh memory. FLash memory is just much more reliable than hdd. if u drop an hdd, i guarentee it will get damaged. Conclusion- flash is better suited for portable devices than hdd.
p.s. that pic does say psp, but they probably just wanted to show how it could be used.
but i pooted on a spider
why dont they just add a bigger harddrive for the psp? maybe a 30gb one? and compress more power into the batteries. that would make the psp almost perfect.
Well I guess people should try to realize that the slide is showing off high density storage (60GB of data per plate) technology rather than a common 1.8 inch Hard Drive. (Yeah, how about some of you people use your heads every so often?)
With higher data density, the plates can spin at a lower RPM yet still retain a decent data transfer rate making it more suitable for portable electronics. See, it's simple, now stop saying stupid things like "oh 1.8 in. have been around since foreva!!" geeze.
And 32GB NAND Flash does exist.... but it's insanely expensive. Think in the range of "thousands" if you get my drift.
"korean businesses have always been attempting to create a rival production since the super nintendo. the korean's PMP (portable media player) has nearly the EXACT features of a PSP minus the UMD gameplay. "
And uhh... don't ALL PMPs have the EXACT same features of a PSP? Because if they don't, I don't think it would be called a PMP......
