PlayStation Home - Image 1We've just been alerted by tipsters Cloudx and Fred West that less than an hour ago, (5pm UK time) Community Manager for PlayStation Home, Ted (TheDog), posted a notice on the PlayStation Home forums saying that a large number of Home invites have just been sent out.

Included in the mass sending are the invites of those that didn't get them e-mails last week.

Here's is the original post:

We will be sending a large number of email invites today. I'll let you know when the process starts, its nearly ready to go. This will include those that didn't get their emails last week and will additionally include Dutch speakers who will get the email in English.

EDIT

The invites are now leaving the building. Check your mail over the next few hours.

So if you haven't done so by now, it's probably a good idea to go check your mailboxes. Good luck to you.

*Update* As Tyrant156 points out in the comments section, PlayStation Home has now been updated to v1.01. We did some digging and found the announcement online. There's really not much to it unless you're Korean though. Ted TheDog in the PS EU community posts (and quite succinctly, at that):

Sorry this news is a little late but 1.01 is simply some Korean language localisation fixes.

Thanks to Tyrant156 for the heads up!

 » More info

Supposedly these invites are being sent to people who downloaded something free off of playstation store(EU), at first i thought it was a theme but according to someone i heard it was the ps3-psp media manager, dunno if its true but this source was right about GTA IV trophies coming a few days before the patch came.

 » hmm

My invite came through my US PSN account email. I haven't downloaded anything special, i applied for the beta months ago and got nothing back then.

 » I got into Home :D

But it's not fun at all, but for the mini-games like bowling, and even that isn't fun at all. It's more for MMORPG lovers, and I'm not one of them.

I got my invite from a mail (hotmail). It gave me a code and I entered it on the "redeem a code" place on the PS store. It got me Home. Still, I don't use it at all, I moved around for an hour, downloading all the places, but I find it useless. I'd LOVE to have a Soul Calibur 4 chat room thought, where we could start games!:D THAT would be great. I didn't try the warhawk place either, I'm not playing a lot right now (university exams..).

It has potential, but it's not that cool right now. And the other's avatars are always loading, wich is annoying (when you enter a place, for at least 2-3mins). They should also make the avatar available for customization in our profile or something, like the Miis and Xbox Miis, lol.

 » Potential is there

I was one of the fortunate ones who got the Beta invite yesterday (in the US). I think the potential is definitely there, especially as more venues are added. I'm not a real 'talker' or social person with strangers; it is definitely geared towards that (as would any concept like this). But, I can definitely see the intriguing 'world community' aspect this can provide. Not to mention how powerful this could be as a Sony-to-PS3-owners announcement/advertising vehicle (that people would actually enjoy experiencing).

If you wanted a Soul Calibur club then why didn't you start one? I have SC4 and i would have been happy to join. It's best to start your clubs in Home now so when everything is turned on you can have a bunch of friends already to play with. Also you can customize your character at anyplace and anytime in home. Just hit start and go to personal and you can change whatever you want about your character and you don't even have to exit where you are.

» Smtp email or ps3 messages?

Do these invites go to your smtp email account registered with your psn account like the reciepts you get when you buy something. Or do you get them in your psn inbox on the ps3?

   Re: Fred_West78 - 2008-11-27
 » NOT PSN email

it will go to your proper email addy ie, hotmail.yahoo.goolemail etc

   Re: DigiTalDeaD - 2008-11-27
 » Yes

You will get the email to your PSN login email, the same email you get your PS Store receipts sent to.
