DSi - Image 1Despite a poll whose results claim that many won't buy a DSi, Nintendo managed to sell out the little money makers in its first week in Japan.

Scratch that. It sold out in its second day in stores. That's some achievement. Or is it just another dire case of the shortage? I hear it's pretty common with Nintendo.

The first week saw a shipment of 200,000 units. Either Nintendo underestimated demand or they're playing the "I can't find one anywhere, so I'll tell all my friends I want one and they'll want one too" card. They also only plan to ship 100,000 units when they next restock retail stores, a week after the DSi's launch date.

It might interest some of you to know that the initial launch of the original PSP in Japan sold 200,000 units in its first day alone.
