Japan based wireless services conglomerate NTT DoCoMo Inc. has developed a system that will let transit companies know if their drivers have helped themselves tosome booze before and while driving. They can do this at any given time from remote locations.
How can they do this? A small breath-alcohol sensor is attached to one of DoCoMo's FOMA 3G handsets. The driver breathes into the sensor and the results of the test are transmitted via FOMA's network to a manager's personal computer.
And wise drivers who will try to weasel their way out of trouble may have a hard time cheating the results. To ensure that the driver is indeed telling the truth, the manager will be able to verify whether the driver in question performed the test by using FOMA's videophone functions. Nice one! Now I wonder if parents will also be able to do this to their teenage offspring.
