Lara Croft - Image 1

Here's a news update about the SCi Entertainment takeover bid: it seems that NBC Universal is upping its efforts to snatch the company that brought Lara Croft to the world away from other prospective buyers, with the media giant close to finalising a £ 50 million deal that should make it a major shareholder.

That's US$ 100 million dollars, if you're wondering - and yes, it's enough money to buy an entire country. Or at least, your very own island.

While this is certainly not something we expected - we reported the last time that it was Time Warner who was looking to be the victor in this battle - it seems that SCi Entertainment is playing both fields.

Reportedly, they are in talks with Time Warner to have its stake in the company increased. As of now, Time Warner owns a 10.3 percent-sized pie of SCi's cake - them going for seconds or even thirds shouldn't be too far-fetched.

Well, this is certainly an interesting development. Who knows where Lara Croft may end up? Time will only tell, and we'll be here to update you as soon as that happens. One thing's for sure, though, that's one hell of a dowry.
