 And so the PC version of the highly-anticipated Modern Warfare 2 (PC, PS3 and Xbox 360) keeps getting caught up in major controversies. We're picking up word now that online retailers are refusing to stock up the game on their shelves because of Steam.What's Steam got to do with it? Well, the game actually requires mandatory installation of Valve's Steamworks, and retailers like Direct2Drive don't think it's a fair deal. "We don't believe games should force the user to install a Trojan Horse." They would be referring to the commercial marketplace that comes included in the Steamworks package. Apart from Direct2Drive, the other retailers who are boycotting Modern Warfare 2 because of it's Steam affiliation would be Gamersgate and Impulse. To clarify, though, their beef is with Steam, and not with Activision. Still, it sure sucks for Activision to be caught in the middle of all this so close to the launch. Related Articles:

Don't worry, the PC version deserves this. Taking out Dedicated Servers was a BIG mistake.
and MW2 will sell millions of copies on PS3 and X360 anyway.

God steps IW comercials ,
- You lost 70% of real COD players
- You won noob players who preordered just to say " yeah i play the best game im the best then they will get boored in few days when they notice that its its hard to aim with a pad "
- you Lost Digital retailers so add a 10% to the lost
and trust me its hard to get trusted again .
Guys i can confirm that PC version of Call of duty 6 is officialy dead already due to IW "over money politic" many peoples worked hard to make this game known
- Clans
- web sites
- players around world not only ( US UK FR ... ) i speak about all the globe players even does who imported their game
- and mooders who have been badly rejected by IW after what they did to COD 4 with IW dev KIT

all this for extra money like M$ do in XBL selling images , 3d models and themes , its ripping .
and kids who preorder this game will kill this game for ever , BCZ a FPS game can survive on a console if you dont want it to become 3d persone shooter with weapons to buy from XBL , too stupid .
IW thank that they riche the sky , but what will hapen real COD players will stay on COD4 and im sure they will , the salle shart will go extremly down , and when a XBOX 360 player will speak about COD 6 the answer will be " ohh the nice graphic game lol "

Pad : limited movement and low velocity
even xbxo 360 have now a adapter called XFPS to plug a mouse to 360 but many bugs and lags .
So as we see IW is hapy XBox360 ps3 preorders so they dont care of PC version , but what if we Cancel our orders and give them bad rating in metacritic.com facebooks twiter forums amazon , i think then they will rethink their dectatory politics .

And thanks to people like you, Activision will rethink their plans to release CoD series games on the PC. As it's not a big risk and liability.
No point of boycotting and stuff. They would've given into the polls anyways and put it in as a patch.

So they don't like the fact that Steam is required before you can play it. That's fair enough, it is a bit crap for people who don't want to use it. But to then refuse to stock it is just plain dumb, they'd make a buttload of money and they're just shooting themselves in the foot. A massive three retailers refusing to stock it? Boo hoo. I'm sure Activision are really upset, and are signing a card right now to say sorry.
Boycotts don't do ***** when everyone else is still selling it as normal. The only thing they will achieve is having lots and lots of customers not buy the game from them cos they're refusing to sell it, on some trumped up notion of moral grounds or principles. Let gamers decide what principles mean, then the people who don't give a ***** can still buy it and they'd make their money off those people.
As for the whole Dedicated Server issue, I don't really mind how it's done. I believe on the Xbox 360 and PS3 they've had the matchmaking system on COD4, and COD2 for the Xbox 360. MW2's matchmaking is going to be exactly the same on PC as it is on consoles, which I don't have a problem with personally. It's a good way of getting you into a game without having to traul through servers.
