According to an article posted by Gamasutra, Microsoft have confirmed 'Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays' officially... at the wrong time. Gamasutra editors have had to remove the article after told by Microsoft that they made a schoolboy error by sending the press release out to news outlets before they were meant to. This means there will be Xbox Live Wednesdays, but full details on the weekly event have not been released. We will keep you up to date on the latest when it comes in, and will post the specifics of the press release as soon as they come through. I would post the information, but I don't want to bring the wrath of Microsoft down upon us, so here's a little teaser for the first one:
  • July 12 - F [One word, and no it isn't swearing]
Other dates for Xbox Live Wednesdays include July 19- August 9th, so make sure you're on Xbox Live on those dates!

Microsoft has confirmed a new program called 'Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays', which features a regular weekly launch schedule for new Xbox Live Arcade games over the Xbox 360 online service, seemingly addressing multiple recent game delay issues for the much-vaunted service.

Starting today, Xbox Live Arcade users will now go live on Wednesdays at 0800 GMT (Midnight Pacific) to download the first in what will be a series of new releases.

The program will start with a release of Konami's 1981 arcade classic Frogger. Other Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays titles debuting in the coming weeks include Cloning Clyde, Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting, Galaga and Pac-Man. Details on pricing for each game were not immediately released.

Xbox Live Arcade's Frogger has been enhanced for the Xbox 360, and features new, enhanced artwork that matches and complements the original style. In addition, according to Microsoft, the game's audio, including sound effects and music, has been modernized to sound crisp and clear on today's high performance sound systems.

The complete schedule is announced as follows:

- July 12 – Frogger
- July 19 – Cloning Clyde
- July 26 – Galaga
- August 2 – Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting
- August 9 – Pac-Man

"There's no better way to revisit the 80s than to throw a retro-themed Gold Experience party - complete with the right classic arcade games, music, and pizza," said Ami Blaire, Global Marketing Director for Xbox Live. "So this summer, live it up on your Xbox 360 and enjoy our new twists on the old classic faves."

 » ok

Thats for the info roadie. The only title I want there is street fighter. I don't really care if it costs $20 because of all the work that was put into it for the online and such. It will make the game way more fun than the original.

man, gotta love XBLA. is there any other next gen system that will let you play arcade classics with brand new graphics? nope. just old games with the same graphics, just higher-res.

 » Galaga

Am I the only one who isn't getting any sleep over the fact that I'll be able to play this next week? My nipples could cut glass I'm so excited. Galaga is pretty lame on those 5 dollar classic tv things you get at wal-mart. At least now, I can get achievement points for playing.
