Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games DS screenshot - Image 1The epic tandem of Nintendo and Sega's mascots successfully raced past the five million line on both the Wii and DS platforms. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, two distinct collections of Olympic sports games utilizing their respective platforms, managed to reach the global milestone in just three months.

Mario and Sonic had strong presence in the North American top ten charts during the holiday craze of December, and performed well in other regions of the world. Sega of America President and CEO had a few words to explain Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games' prominent showing, saying:

With adored icons and fun game play, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games has shot to the top of the sales charts and is clearly resonating with the growing audience of casual gamers that want an engaging and accessible gaming experience.

 » :-(

This is a sad, sad day for gaming when a game like that sells 5 million.

 » YEAH!!!!!

You go Mario and Sonic you two are the most awesome ever....u two and link and kirby but i think the first game to feature Mario and sonic deserves that many sales even tho it was kinda obvious XD

 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

As REAL common sense tells you, people don't buy what they don't want. So the success of this game is what it is.

I played it and it's fun (Wii). More and more people are after "what's fun" these days instead of sinking tons of money into what's more powerful.

I also played the DS version but I didn't like it at all. Now let's see, if I lived by Mr. Nonsense's standards then I would have to DEMAND a recount! I would have to claim the sales figure as a lie because if I didn't like it then NO ONE ELSE CAN EVER LIKE IT...... oh wait, I'm not a prick like him so I can simply leave it at while I didn't like it, obviously many others did.

Good job Nintendo.

I think the people that bought that game saw the box art and thought "Wow Sonic and Mario in the same game? I don't need to rent it or read a review, I'm buying it!"

There are better games on the Wii. Just nothing that compares to the games on other real life next gen systems.

Disclaimer: THIS IS MCS'S OPINION, NOT FACT. JUST THROWING IT OUT THERE BECAUSE I KNOW YOU LOVE HEARING IT.

At least you can admit all your crap is nothing but your opinion and NOT FACT.

In fact, I've told you that in the past and you argued and claimed everything you've ever said was fact.

So, that makes you completely full of crap.

Also, opinions based on false information are still CRAP OPINIONS. You ever hear the phrase, opinions can never be wrong? WRONG!!!

OPINION - I hate the moon because I hate square objects. Yup, that opinion is CRAP.

"I think the people that bought that game saw the box art and thought "Wow Sonic and Mario in the same game? I don't need to rent it or read a review, I'm buying it!"
This is what makes you ignorant as can be. Let go back in time during the NES days and prior. There was no such thing as RENTING a game. You either bought it or you didn't. Obviously renting is a TOOL that can be used but by all means it's not a requirement. Same goes with PC games to this day. No such thing as renting so your renting comment is complete crap.

Not ever LIKES to read reviews. Especially since reviews to most people are complete inaccurate.

I would always rent NES games before I bought them. It's a lot of allowance to buy a game you don't like.

Again, I don't know where you grew up, but you're wrong yet again.

Questionable title and seems very much like the Mario Party genre of gaming. However, if its exciting and folks love it, just goes to show the Big N only has to put so much effort into some of its titles in order for them to sell like hot cakes!

Nintendo FTW!
