We're still trying to catch up on all the news from Leipzig, but for now, report on the cream of the crop!

Spanning 29 exhibitors and a grand total of about 120 software and hardware titles, only nine awards were given out, with each category representing a gaming platform.
  • PSP: Resistance: Retribution (Sony)
  • PS3: LittleBigPlanet (Sony)
  • 360: Mirror's Edge (Electronic Arts)
  • Wii: Skate It (Electronic Arts)
  • DS: Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood (Sega)
  • PC: Spore (Electronic Arts)
  • MMO: Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (Electornic Arts)
  • Mobile: Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (Konami)

We also hear that the attendance at this year's GC is a record. The attendance for 2008 has increased from last year's 35,000 population, to this year's 38,000.

Isn't Mirror's edge being developed on the PS3 first, I don't understand how the 360 got the prize. *confused*

it was the only game that is on the 360 that made any sort of impression on anyone.

 » Wow...

360's best game is a multiplatformer made by a team that preffers the PS3.

 » Err No.

Its cos Microsoft didn't attend the event (all they did was have a booth with some trailers and 3rd party games). I'm sure Gears 2 would have taken it if it was at the show.

 » Um...

It's not a matter of "who showed up and who didn't", it's a matter of "their best game is multiplatform". If they were there, they should've brought their big guns also. All they had was Halo Wars, Fable 2 and Lips. http://translate.google.com/translate?u+http%3A%2F%2Fwww.4players.de%2F4players.php%2Fdispbericht%2F360%2FSpecial%2F2906%2F59878%2F0%2FGames_Convention_2008.html+hl+en+ie+UTF8+sl+de+tl+en

it is gradually becoming more and more obvious ps3 is the best platform. xbox has less and less to show - e3 a multiplatform game ff13 was its main attraction, now leipzig, mirror's edge, another one which ps3 is also lead platform for... its true that ps3 has way more exclusives, and more interest from developers, except devs that are being bribed by microsoft to make more space-suit games, how boring...

Are you one of those kids who post opening comments on news articles, that cause a slew of console-war-hate-messages to follow?

Why is everything always about how your console is better? Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. But to bring it up all the time, you know half the kids on here will disagree.

Why is it that specific (not all) console fans speak of their console more like its a religion than a multimedia platform?

 » Maybe it's not that

Maybe it's not just "fanboyism", but rather a desire to see the monolithic Microsoft fail .... at something. There's some justice --and consumer relief-- in seeing the market-eating behemoth M$ have 1 market that just slips from its grasp. I have a Windows PC, and a Windows laptop, but that's not all: my JVC car stereo runs a custom version of Windows mobile. The new cell phone I got runs ...guess what? --That's right: Windows Mobile. And, for those infernal exclusives that have already been released, I also have .... Xbox 360. But, I'd be REALLY pleased to see M$ inevitably fail at the games market. And, in the long run, it'd probably be better for all of us. Just one piece of that home-electronics pie that they can't swallow whole, unlike what they do with every other market they barge on into.

my point exactly - i just want microsoft to realise throwing money at a problem isnt the answer to getting success, they win everything, but i dont want them to take the game market because i hate them and love games and it will destroy games imho.
