"The worst-kept secret in the video game industry" finally comes out into the open. LucasArts and BioWare's KotOR-based MMO has officially been announced bearing the standard Star Wars: The Old Republic.

As you can guess, the MMO will be based on the timeline of Knights of the Old Republic, thousands of years before Darth Vader started to inhale loudly. This was the time of the war between the Old Republic and the Sith Empire.

You can play as Jedi, Sith, and other yet unspecified Star Wars roles. Like many Star Wars games, you'll determine your own path down either the light or dark side of the Force.

No news yet on when it'll come out, but at least they finally admitted it exists right? They even released some concept art and early screens to boot. Check em out:

I can't effing wait! KotOR is my favorite SW game ever! This is going to be effing incredible especially if they decide to bring it over to the PS3.
