Hideo Kojima - Image 1Just because former PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy XIII jumped ship doesn't mean other exclusive games will get a green light on other platforms.

At least for Hideo Kojima's PS3 baby, Metal Gear Solid 4, chances of an Xbox 360 version is close to nil. In fact, it seems as if Kojima himself is getting irritated already by all the hubub and clamor.

Well, everyone has their own boiling point, and some times, you really do have to draw the line. Speaking to Eurogamer, Hideo Kojima reveals that he just wants people to stop asking about a 360 port for MGS4, and maybe let everyone focus more on other future titles.

He indicates that MGS4 is nigh impossible on the 360 because the game was designed and optimized to be a PS3 title to begin with.

When asked by Eurogamer why "gamers are so keen to separate themselves according to which platform they follow" (which I think is just a subtler substitute to the same question of "why do some gamers have to be such fanboys"), Kojima replies:

Hopefully the day will come when people won't do this, I've been doing a lot of interviews and stage shows, and half the questions are like 'Will MGS4 be coming out on 360 or other formats?', and in the near future I hope they'll ask me about Metal Gear, about us, about our future projects, and will stop caring about the hardware.

So stop it with all the "MGS4 on 360 pls" requests and let's look forward to the future. For example, what about that mysterious MGS5 that Ryan Payton just hinted about? What about other titles? Who knows, they might release another Zone of the Enders sequel and make that into a multiplatform release. There's more to life than just ports. And hey, TGS 2008 is just around the corner, and Konami will be attending.

Sadly, as much as I might want a PS3, I simply can't afford one. Not that I care at all about MGS4, but there are PS3 exclusives I wish I didn't have to buy another system for.

I'm sure there are other people in a similar situation. On multi-platform games I'm most likely to get the 360 version because of GamerScore points. That leaves only platform exclusive titles for Wii and PS3. With the Wii I was able to justify the cost, PS3... not so much. My PS3 wanted list only has 5 titles on it right now, I wouldn't feel I was getting my value out of the expense of a third, and most expensive, system.

 » Hello, Kojima-San, it's me, Viphid

I don't feel I should have to talk about the hardware either but it's already been brought up. You obviously chose to make your game on the system that the franchise was successful and appreciated on. That's completely understandable. However, just as you are true to your convictions in what you do, some gamers also uphold their own beliefs and would refuse to purchase the console that your franchise has been made on. That aside, plenty of fan boys appreciate your work. Many reviewers claim it's the greatest piece of interactive art ever created. Many wont ever get to experience it and still more just wont care. It's you that has to live with it. You say you don't want to talk about Hardware but it was you who initiated the talk by making your game exclusive. So if a few (and by few I mean several hundered thousand gamers) want to tug at your ear and simply ask for such a masterpiece of a video game to grace their favorite console, that's the breaks. You're a big boy and you can get over it. If you want to talk about the future, then show us the future. Otherwise gamers are always going to want to play something they can't. Even if they claim not to. I own a 360 and would love to play Little Big Planet. I will never buy a PS3 for reasons that are my own. There's a problem there but I will live with it. Maybe in this future you speak of Kojima, there will only be one console and we all can play Halo: Fall of Man, Gears of Killzone and God of Gaiden. You know what... never mind. I don't like that future. We as gamers have a choice. We chose to play what we want and by default of console preference, what we do and don't get to play. That's what happens. Just as we should accept not being able to play something exclusive, so should you expect to be pestered to death as to why. -V

hey you can always sell the console after you finish the game, and or continue playing with MGS Online and set aside fanboyism and really be a "Gamer". lols.

i havent bought my 360 yet, but i plan to, someday. luckily most titles on 360 that i really wanna check out comes with a better version on the PC so im still holding out on the purchase.

here's a tip, do something else people care about...

you are lucky the consumer is telling you how to take their money...

alot of businesses have to guess at what the consumer wants, and often fail miserably.

   Re: rakizta77 - 2008-08-26
 » really?

so you're telling that kojima is guessing what the consumer wants? you think porting this to the 360 is what most of the people wants? i dont see any proof or any survey that concerns it. The point here is MGS was made for PS, and kojima is sticking to the huge fanbase that it made since the PS1 era.. and i think he saw what were the reactions of the FF fans when FFXIII got multiplatform. Poor Squenix, a lot of hardcore fans got pissed. LOL.

besides.. most of you guys have the $$ to buy your 360 games.. why not buy a PS3 too? i own both consoles so i dont really have problems with exclusives.

   Re: rollypoly - 2008-08-26
 » um

i wasn't even commenting on exclusives, or saying i wanted to play MGS4, i don't. i prefer splinter cell.

i never finished the first one 10 years ago...

i was offering my detached perspective.

thing is that huge fanbase is now more diverse and the ones who got in late in the game (cheap / broke gamers) don't own PS3s right now...

hardcore fans are quickly becoming irrelevant as game production values skyrocket. just like movies they must appeal to larger audiences to recoup costs, unless the system maker kicks the studio cash, or buys them outright to move consoles.

somehow asking questions is whining to ps3 fanboys, i guess you can't question things or their allegiance falls apart... so i figured i would point out it was their idol that was actually complaining...

i've owned a ps3 and will buy one again when a game i want to play graces the console with it's presence.

Ha!, that is so outrageous. This is like supermarket suite for people outside the MS community. As for the

"you are lucky the consumer is telling you how to take their money..." comment,
Kojima isn't out here to take people's money, he's here to make quality gaming (which in it self will return large sums of profit) as he has always envisioned for loyal Sony fans. After all, I think the last thing Kojima wants to see is his dreams being involved with a RROD.

Victory is ours!

   Re: rollypoly - 2008-08-26
 » yeah

hang on to the RROD, it's about all you can really say based in fact, even then it's a non-issue anymore.

it's kind of funny how quality is all the rage with ps fanboys this generation, but last it was quantity... seeing as how the best games (looking, after all games can play just as well on anything but the wii) were on xbox1.

it's a business, it's after profit. it would be a stupid business decision to pass up a chance to profit.

why did the MGS series make it to original xbox?

"envisioned for loyal Sony fans"?

   Re: F34RM3 - 2008-08-26
» You it is a bit of a stich

That Sony fans harp on the 360's RRoD which is a near non-existent issue anymore considering the failure rate has dropped into the average for any technological device which is 5-10%. Well what I have to say to this is at least Microsoft has been working to remedy their hardware failures, whereas the PS2 of last generation Sony made no attempt to remedy or resolve the issue but rather ignore it. I treat all my products well clean them weekly with canned air, dust them and then keep them is places where they can get the proper amount of ventilation. Now where's my point you may be asking, well my point is my PS3 is just over a year old and it's favourite pastime is to freeze, "Oh did you want to exit this game?" "TOO BAD -FROZEN"

   Re: F34RM3 - 2008-08-26
 » Cont'd

What I'm saying is things will fail, and the PS3 isn't as sturdy as the Sony fanbase community would like it to be. I'm not for one system or the other despite the fact that my argument leans towards the 360 being better, it's just that there is an oppisite for every side and each side must be given a fair trial, the tired fanboyism needs to end and people need to learn to just appreciate their purchase, versus cutting everyone else down when they make theirs, if you want MGS4 but don't feel the PS3 is worth it then go without plain and simple, if you don't have the money then save any that you can if that's not an option then just be quiet and enjoy your system (if you have one). As far as games going multi get over it, it's going to become a more an more relevant part of our gaming generation as the development costs continue to sky rocket, so just bugger off

@rollypoly

"why did the MGS series make it to original xbox?"

You claim to know about business. So why can't you answer this question? Sony was done making money on this game. So what they did with it didn't really matter. My question to you is, WHY NOT dig a hook into MS fanboys and get some of them to purchase Sony? Give them a little taste then BAM, Sony only....

@F34RM3

"That Sony fans harp on the 360's RRoD which is a near non-existent issue anymore"
WRONG!!!!! Do you have any clue how many RRoD able machines are STILL in peoples home? It's not much of an issue with NEWER consoles. Gees, how quickly people forget how many units are still out there! TONS of machines are returned every month.

I leave my PS3 running 24/7 for F@H. Never had a problem with it. Do that with the average 360 and it will burn your house down!!! Oh wait....that's right...it's can't run F@H for squat compared to the PS3....oops!

Plus, I've not once heard anyone complain of their PS3 freezing???? Point us to all these complaints.

"froze on me more than 3 times in the 2 days i had it."

1. Then return the defective machine for another one. Obviously that isn't normal.

OR

2. BS.

 » ISOHaven

Once again let me express something I said first and foremost in my argument I simply said that I was taking no side just saying that each side deserves a fair trail so in your attempts to demean me or my argument I could careless. Secondly on the Sony forums they have a YLoD forum which was growing on average by five people a day. Further more (whether or not you listen believe or care about what I say from here on out is your choice), I work at a gamestop myself I get various costumers that come in on a daily basis complaining that their system (PS3) wont read their games, I usually ask first off what is the condition of the the disc and if I may see it, as sometimes as we know things can get scratched or broken from misue, when I see that the game is in pristine condition I generally turn and tell the costumer that the it's the system at fault does that mean that it's Sony's problem no, they could take decent care of their games but have the system shoved on a carpet or so on. My point being as previously stated, THINGS FAIL, someone has to be the 7-10%. I can tell you several reasons why the RRoD formerly occurred firstly the design of the 360 was rushed as to beat their competitors to the next generation market, poor solder joints, and the fake that the fans to cool the chips are across the board. Now as for your statement about the RRoD pandemic still being current through those who have an older system, well this is why Microsoft extended their manufacturer's warranty to 3 years. If you're warranty has expired you have three options [1] Pay $150 USD to have the system fixed by Microsoft, [2] Buy an entirely new XBOX 360, or [3] Invest in a different console. Now you also made some overly fanboyish statements first of all leaving the 360 on even at a near 24/7 rate is not going to cause your house to burn down, I leave my 360 on all the time, sometimes even for days at a time, and have had no electrical based or any other based fires for that matter. As for F@H I could careless I use my system for gaming, movies, tv shows, music, online play, and content. Now lets talk a little comparison my comparison being XBOX LIVE vs PSN, hands down XBL is the superior service, this is not biased fanboyism, but truth stated by side by side comparison but it also goes back to the saying you get what you pay for, and for free PSN is not that bad by any means, just no where near the capability or functionality of XBL. Further more I just bought a new PS3 and much to your enjoyment I imagine my issues are gone I've had no freezes, crashes, ect. Once again as I said before the fanboy flame war needs to end, just enjoy your damn purchase.

   Re: F34RM3 - 2008-08-27
» Some clarifications to be made

When I said I get costumers complains I didn't mean that every day I get a line a mile thick saying "OMGWTF MY PS3 WON'T PLAY GAMES!" but on average I get 2-3 costumers a month stating this usually those who invested in a launch 60GB or someone who has a system reaching one year. Further more to my F@H remark, that's my personal opinion I am aware some people like F@H I am not one of those people. And finally to anyone who thinks I am being a fanboy I am not I am merely giving my thoughts and giving the opposite system and fair trail I would do the same in a topic crowded with 360 fanbots.

Really? So you care a little? With the possibility to careLESS? It's not possible to careLESS unless you at least care a little.

"Secondly on the Sony forums they have a YLoD forum which was growing on average by five people a day."

You mean a SUB-forum? How exactly does a SUB-forum get it's own specific members? The forum you speak of is under PLAYSTATIONR3 General and it's named PS3 YLOD. It only has EIGHT people posting in it with two very short pages. So unless you are speaking of some OTHER Sony forum you'll have to POINT US to it like I asked you to.

http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id+ps3+thread.id+3266618

"As for F@H I could careless"
Make like a tree and go? Seriously, you need to fix that. I can see that you don't care. That's your biggest problem. Mainly because other people DO CARE. Until you start to TAKE IN information for ALL AROUND YOU and until you stop ignoring facts from ALL AROUND YOU, most of what you say will not be taken seriously. Especially when you type in one huge paragraph with run-on sentences that make people go cross-eyed. Honestly, I didn't read much of anything after YLOD. F@H caught my eye and that was it.

Next Post:

Did I say that? NO! So now we can add comprehension issues to the mix.

"I'm sorry but it was 3am my time when I typed that and I made sure I spelled things accurately but apparently my lack of paragraphs is what's important"
Read above.

"considering some people spell "lik dis, u shud b happy wit my spelling""
No one mentioned spelling. Go ahead, cut and paste were you see someone other then yourself that used the word SPELL. More of that whole comprehension issue again.

"And as I stated I said personally I don't like F@H that's my personal opinion I clarified this in the add-on but I guess I have to repeat myself..."
Why are you repeating yourself? What I said did nothing to negate your opinion. You are welcome to your opinion all day long (all night long as well!). The problem is YOU attempt to negate the wants of others WITH your opinion. Which is just plain childish.

As for Gears2. Graphics wise it wont be better but they are adding more physics to the game as well as .....hum.... can't think of the word.... more gameplay dynamics...something like that. Newer weapons that allow the user to interact differently.

If Kojima doesn't want to hear people whine about ports, he's in the wrong industry. I have no problem with people voicing their views on porting games from one console to another, it's the infighting that gets me. Attacking someone for choosing to buy a PS3 over a 360 or vice versa is bloody stupid.

But then if I don't want to have to deal with it, maybe I have the wrong hobby *Sigh*

The fact is the PS3 can't live without the 360 and the 360 can't live without the PS3

The reason we get good games from both consoles is cause they both want to be the best. if one console was better than the other then there would clearly only be one console left to play.

Its competition that keeps the gaming industry alive

Complain all you want about what console is better but there's really no point when there's always going to be competition with no winner

"The fact is the PS3 can't live without the 360"

How do you figure? The Playstation lived without the xbox just fine.

Competition + Nintendo and Sony. Microsoft is nothing but an afterthought. A good afterthought, but an afterthought none the less.

 » look

the fact that all the mgs is mostly ps games is very important in the game, mgs4 is advertisingfor the ps systems in many cutscenes that play important roles in the game, so get over it.

 » this is why i bought a ps3

i knew it wasnt coming to 360 and it hasnt, go kojima. to all you 360 players who say ps3 isnt worth it due to lack of titles - it has the same titles as 360 except for gears of war and halo. imho those games are not worth buying a 360 for, ps3 has way more exclusives to boot, and this year we're getting about 20 exclusives and each one is looking great. 360 has had its fame, and now its ran out of steam. slow and steady wins the race.

Ha!, it's funny how people think I'm a Sony fanboy when I've ridiculed the PSP in the past so many times. Back to the subject, I would like to hear Mr. Sense's take on this controversy as I have not seen him thus far.

I do find it funny how people are asking Kojima to justify why it won't come to the 360, when he has been saying this for well over a year and he even said it again in the Eurogamer article.

Whilst the rest of you are bickering, I'm off to play MGS4 on my PS3 and another PS3 exclusive FPS which is coming out later this year...

Directly from Hideo Kojimas mouth "Hideo Kojima, who said he is regularly asked if Metal Gear Solid 4 will be released on Microsoft's console, said: "because MGS4 was optimised for the PS3, it is probably not possible".

The Japanese games designer added that his future creations may be multi-format if the technology is up to it.

ps3 is more advance haha, Check here
