Development for 2K Sports' upcoming basketball sim NBA 2K9 has begun in earnest and a cover player has already been selected. The face of this year's edition is none other than Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett.

Garnett is the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the year and he's currently duking it out with Kobe Bryant's Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals. He's been named to 11 NBA All-Star games and is a former MVP award recipient.

Garnett expressed his appreciation towards 2K Sports for the honor and praised the game franchise for its high quality. "NBA 2K9 is where it's AT! End of story," he said in an official statement.

NBA 2K9 will be released this Fall and will be available for the Sony PlayStation 3, the Microsoft Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 2. Get ready to get your game on (and to bust out those wallets) by that time.
