Hi everybody.
Well I am not a big apple fan, but I have to say that this release from apple is far the best I think...
At least those days....
But...
Does it have 3G? NO. Can we do VideoCalls? Impossible. GPS? Nop...
Well it have some things that are really interesting (like multi-touch screen and moviment sensor) but I guess these tecnologies are not prioritary.
I mean that, nowadays most of the PDAs come with 3G and of course videocalls capabilitie. Many PDAs planned for 2007 include GPS in its specs. And don't forget that the next generation of Windows Mobile is coming, like a mini Windows Vista for PDAs...
Don't even forget that there are already some phones with 8Gbs on sale or to be launched like SonyEricsson and Nokia.
In my opinion, it is beautiful (no doubt) and has cool effects like OS X dashboard. But it has some lacks that shouldn't have like 3G and GPS, specialy for that price ( this is a PS3!!!)

Wow maybe Cingular's best in your region, but around here (SLC, UT) Cingular is considered a near bottom end company. I wish it was nice here so i could have an iphone (although at 5 bills and already owning an ipod and psp it really isn't worth it) but its drop call city.

1.Most phones carry a 1mp camera, max 3. This isnt meant to be a *****ing digital camera. It's a CAMERA PHONE.
2.The GPS is an over rated POS. Anyone who wants GPS that bad probably has a device already, or can afford one.
3.Safari is the OSX standard, not a 3rd party solution. Licensing alone would make Safari a hell of a lot easier to include over a third party solution, or the competition's browser. Besides, wtf are you thinking, suggesting IE?

The iPhone is a great multimedia device. but it's not going to end up being as mainstream as the ipod unless they drop the price a couple hundred and ad a ***** load more features.
Good:
-Touch interface is nice
-OS X on a portable device this small is amazing.
-Google Maps/Yahoo partnership is a nice addon.
-3.5" widescreen is very nice for video.
-nice and slim
-seems to be very easy to use.
-2 MP camera. though for the price it should be a 3+
-BT 2.0

-no 3g
-$600 for a phone? not to mention going to have to pay like 100 bucks a month to use it. i rather go buy a PS3 and an iPod (or zune)

-Battery Life. Running everything from that screen has got to kill the battery. from a few people i know who are there they talked to the apple reps and found out it has a talk time of 2 hours and standby of 24 (max) thats absolutely terrible for any phone device.
-Wi-Fi. nice feature but dosn't come into any use. Your going to have to have a data plan to use the internet (which will run on EDGE, not Wi-Fi) and you cant download/send stuff via Wi-Fi. and you cant Sync through wi-fi. so whats the point?
All and all it is a good device. but i dont see anyone other than celebrities and spoiled brats owning this. it's looking to be like a sidekick. it's what you get out of the box and thats it.
maybe i'm wrong. but personally i dont think this will take off for a long time. (or after a lot of price drops)

They forgot to mention a couple of more features that this phone will have...
1. Battery will suck... they will claim a cartain amout of hours, but by looking at the fatures and brightness... I'll say it will be half of what they actually count... just look at Video iPod.
2. Support for the iPod HiFi... but wait a minute... find one... at my local Circuit City they have been out of stock for months... and this is before the holidays...
3. Many "LOYAL" customers looking for returned or refurbished iPhones... because people are stupid and won't read instructions and need smart people like me to teach them something they can as easily figure out themselves... but since no one will help they will return it...
4. Microsoft's version (X-Phone or Zune Wireless) will have a bigger screen!!! Since Zune is a upgraded version of iPod... chances are that Billy Gates and Stevey Jobs are working together...
5. Creative is still better than both Zune and iPod... Warranty Sucks but still better product...

First of all, I think it's safe to say that the price will gradually go down. Remember when the RAZR first came out? It was $700! And it didn't have near as many features as the iPhone. Now, it has a few more features and the price has dropped from $700 to $150 (with a contract). The RAZR is one of the most popular phones out there now. I'm pretty sure the iPhone won't stay $600 for ever. About the Video ipod, I wanted them to release one as well. But think, if they make something like the iPhone, but with an HDD and no phone function, it would be awesome. And it's not too far-fetched to assume they will in the near future.
Just my $0.02USD.
