Square Enix and Eidos agree buyout terms - Image 1

Coming to a Final Fantasy near you

Lara Croft's future is finally secure, and she's going to be hanging out with a different crowd now. Eidos Interactive has reached an agreement with Square Enix, and the takeover of the Tomb Raider studio is expected to occur in early May, and shareholder approval is expected later this month.

This takeover follows a long and troubled history for Eidos Interactive, who's been looking for a buyer since last year. Square Enix, who's been looking for more Western talent in the last few months, may be the last studio I imagined Lara Croft to land in, but it's certainly an interesting match.

I am amazed to see this really happening, can't wait to see the difference.

» You need to correct your article.

Your title says acquisition but your article says merger. I think SE's deal with Eidos is acquisition as it was announced to be a takeover offer.

If it's a merger then what kind of name the new company will have? SEE - Square-Enix-Eidos?

Anyways, you need to correct your facts, or research about M&A first.

It's an "ACQUISITION" and "NOT A MERGER". Here is the press:
http://www.hemscott.com/servlet/HsPublic?context+ir.access+ir_option+RNS_NEWS+item+74249248987688+ir_client_id+3144

quote:
"SQEX, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Square Enix, will acquire the entire issued and to be issued ordinary share capital of Eidos."

That proves acquisition.

Didn't think someone would actually care about the terminology. Yes, you're right, thanks for pointing it out. In all likelihood it will be a takeover, but pending shareholder approval the deal can still go awry - and knowing Eidos, we might see some griping. But the article has been edited, and the changes should reflect in a few minutes.

It's starting to sound like a name to a freaky Transformer.. This'll be a nice acquirement, Square Enix usually puts out quality games..

Square-Enix usually puts out quality games? lol. I think you're thinking of a different company because I have yet to see any kind of quality in a Square-Enix game.

They're gonna add tentacle monsters in the game if you know what mean. ;D

Good, hopefully they'll knock some sense into that ageist company.

Whatever you do don't go to that website (I don't know if that's even a real website) I was just making a comment spicing up the usual wtf a bit. ;)
Anyway I think this is really strange that such opposite companies could want to get involved with each other. I could not imagine anything more different between Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy.
