Illuminati PSP Exploit - Image 1If this isn't one of the biggest updates in awhile for PSP gamers then I don't know what you're waiting for - go get a DS. However on a serious note, some PSP gamers love their PSP and all the "great features Sony has to offer", so much that they update their precious system firmware as to not miss a beat. Updating your PSP's firmware to the latest firmware has come at a cost, as some are left stuck without the glory of homebrew. All thats about to change, as Archaemic and Noobz have made some major progress on bringing homebrew to the newer firmware PSP's.

Homebrew working on all PSP firmware (even 3.50) with a Lumines UMD and Illuminati exploit!

I couldn't believe it either. Many of us are sitting next to our favorite puzzle game Lumines right now. With this new PSP exploit, the blissfully sweet puzzle game can now be forged like a double edge sword. Giving PSP owners, on ANY firmware the ability to play homebrew applications, games and emulators till our hearts content or till we explode from nostalgia. So without further ado check out the simple steps for running the Noobz 'Hello World' app, which in the future will transform into HEN (Homebrew Enabler) and a downgrader. Amazing!

Noobz Guide for running the Illuminati Exploit:

  • Check that you have an EU or US version of Lumines (ULES00043 or ULUS10002). Currently we don't have a version for the Japanese version, but we're working on it, as soon as we get hold of a Japanese UMD.
  • Extract the contents of the 'MS_ROOT' folder from the ZIP file into the top-level of your memory stick. (HINT: If you wind up with an 'MS_ROOT' folder on the stick, you've done it wrong).
  • Start the game, and as soon as it gets to the 'Press START' screen, press START. If you wait until the demo has started, the exploit may not work.
  • The screen should go blank, and the exploit will start after a few moments. It doesn't do anything except look pretty at this stage - but feel free to enjoy the first homebrew on your v3.10 - v3.50 PSP

Update: The Lumines based Downgrader for 3.50 PSP firmware has been released. Congrats to all that helped accomplish this amazing feat! Head on over to read all the details.

   Re: Jin (Unregistered) - 2007-06-23
 » ...

Damn I was hoping this would never happen. Being able to downgrade from 3.03 is good enough. As much as you *****es hate to see it, ISO loaders are making an impact on game sales. You can attempt to say "NO THHTEY'RE NOT, STUPID!" but you're wrong, killer. 3.03 downgrader is just fine, everyone who updated deserves to be left where they are. The less people that use custom firmware, the better. But I guarentee anyone who downgrades doesn't give a *****, lol, but they will when developers see how much piracy actually happens.

   Re: jensy (Unregistered) - 2007-06-23
 » well

Sony will quickly patch this up in a new firmware update i reckon

   Re: Anon (Unregistered) - 2007-06-24
 » RE:JIN

That statement of yours has got to be the most IDIOTIC ONE I'ved EVER heard.
NO ONE deserves to be left in the dark when it comes to homebrew.
I'm happily on 3.40 OE and all it's glory, but those whom *accidently updated their unit to 3.10+ also needs an option if they want to keep Sony's original FW or go beyond. Just as you and I, and countless of other PSP users out there had been granted with.
I think EVERYBODY needs to be a part of this scene regardless of their mistakes. Whether it be brikage or upgrades.

It's people like yourself that gives this scene a bad taste and if there was a way to teach you selfish n00bz like you a lesson, I and many others would've done it AGES ago.
Loser...

   Re: Advertising -

   Re: J-UK (Unregistered) - 2007-06-24
 » @ Jin also

soooo... your happy with your homebrew psp
but you dont want anyone else to have one so they have to buy umds and keep the sales up so YOU can pirate them off the net
your really selfish... these awsome developers go through this trouble to bring you this for FREE btw.. remember that

   Re: Snarg (Unregistered) - 2007-06-24
 » .

@anon
Sorry to hear you where stupid enough to upgrade past 3.03, and that you're too much of a coward to post without using "anon".

And no, I'm not Jin, nor am I defending everything he said, but he does make some good points, and you don't make any.

   Re: Jin (Unregistered) - 2007-06-24
 » ...

Anon, I'm all for arguments, but what you just said... makes no sense?

I said ISO loaders, I don't care if people use homebrew, homebrew applications kick ass. I was talking about piracy. ...I don't know how you misunderstood? You can't be that blunt.

And Anon, keep the "noob" comment to yourself kid, honestly. I got my PSP the first week it came out in the US. So? I don't know man that was just all around dumb, what little intelligence you tried showing about homebrew (even though you didn't get that either) was blasted away with that last comment of yours.

And J-Uk, who said that? You? lol. Okay. Not only do I not want this downgrader to come out (Which it will so oh well) but I also do not a PC PSP emulator (Fully working) to come out since many people plan on buying a PSP just for specific gmaes such as God of War, Silent Hill, and Final Fantasy (for examples.)

I want to be proved wrong, and I was hoping someone would do so about piracy and the effects of the developers, but so far all you two have done have tried to say "Everyone can use homebrew!" Obviously. ...So talk about being new? Or a "noob," Anon, don't even try.

   Re: pepito (Unregistered) - 2007-06-24
» It always shutdowns my psp

I have the lumines, and I'm trying to start the hello world, but it always shut down completely my PSP.
I have PSP 1004 NOT TA-082 with 3.40OE-A and I have the ULES 00043 Lumines version. I copy both savegames in the savegame folder of PSP, then I start the Lumines and when it arrives to the "Press start button" screen I press start the screen turns into black and after a few seconds the PSP shut down completely...

Can anybody help me please?

   Re: CheWu (Unregistered) - 2007-06-24
 » YES!

YOUVE DONE IT AGAIN NOOBZ! FIGHT THE POWER!... but i think sony unofficialy endorse homebrew.. NOT PIRACY come on they haven't changed the decripition keys that much since 3 and noobz got the keys in 1 day! and couldnt tell us how they did it. i think sony gave it to them.

   Re: bc (Unregistered) - 2007-06-24
 » @ pepito

If you're at 3.40 oe, why are you trying to use this anyway? This is for enabling homebrew on sony FW.

   Re: pepito (Unregistered) - 2007-06-24
 » Re: bc

I know I have an enabled homebrew psp, that I can use homebrew, backups and PSX games, but I want to try the Iluminati Exploit of lumines, I have the original UMD of lumines and a PSP it should work, and some some people reported me it works in a 3.40OE-A PSP, so it should work on my PSP but it only shutdowns it and I cant understand why... I'm only looking for a response.

This seems like a really good exploit. If Sony didn't fix it until now, they probably wouldn't have fixed it on the slim PSP either. They should have totally kept this exploit secret until then!
