  What would you do if you were stuck with one talent tree? Just how many would like to specialize in just one thing... like forever?
We reported earlier in or own WoW blog about the Hero Classes gathering dust and subsequently removed from the World of Warcraft Under Development page. Tobold's blog points to a rather interesting (rather old, too) supposed leak about the Hero Classes. A short rundown: each of the nine classes get divided into three hero classes, each class specializing in one talent tree.
How will that work? Take the Warlock class for example. If the Hero classes get implemented, players will be able to choose between being the following:
- Affliction Warlock - Bringer of Pain
- Demonology Warlock - Dread Lord
- Destruction Warlock - Blood Mage
What's the downside? Tobold cites two reasons:
- specializing in a Hero Class is like specializing in a profession - you're stuck with it forever, and
- you won't immediately have access to all hero skills.
But if you choose to create a hero class character, you'll have hero quests and hero quest chains - which we're assuming goes beyond what the normal quests are. Plus players will be able to eventually use each hero class' signature move (read: blademaster's bladestorm among others).
Well, a couple of things make this supposed leak interesting. If it's true, then players will all have something new to do - endgame changes would be numerous. Though as Tobold points out, this change would be like a third profession in other MMORPGs which works almost exactly the same. And he points out the "what ifs" the change would entail. What if you decide to become a frost mage then a raid pops up with a room full of frost resistant mobs?
We'll see how this happens - or not. We know a number of players have been asking for new classes. What do you think about Hero Classes in the World of Warcraft? Will we expect it in the next expansion? Is Blizzard seriously considering it? Stay tuned.
