First, the post date. January 4th? Turn 1/4 around and it becomes 4/1, or April 1st. We don't have to explain the significance of that.
actually, yes you do, what is that supposed to mean?
... or a retard?
well april 1st is obviously april fools day. But if this was just a joke, it will probably be followed by an apology, because I would assume it would devastate IGN's credibility.
Halo DS may or may not be a hoax, but this is certainly the flimsiest, conspiracy-theory-nut reasoning given as proof that it is.
Honestly anyone who thinks a Halo game could run on a DS is just retarded in the first place. I could see it running on PSP because some of the current games look damn near close to PS2 games ( Crisis Core / Tekken / MGS ).
OK, Any decent Halo game wouldn't fit on a DS game card, And I don't think Microsoft would give up one of their greatest titles ever for a system for a younger generation. I have a DS and love it, so its not like I'm against Nintendo, I just can't see Halo working on a DS. By the way, I doubt the date has anything to do with it.
Halo could obviously run 3D on DS, you just have to look at Metriod Prime Hunters to see how well it could work.
Sorry. DS just doesn't cut it for real games. :(
This we know... So let's stop talking about their lies.
I have modded some halo 2 before, and each multiplayer map is like 50mb alone, so if they made a full game for ds it would be too big. Unless it was 2Dimensional of course, but I doubt that would keep the halo feel.
NIntendo DS plays less than N64 Graphic Games, Do you really think even halo 1 could play on a DS, even at the end of its life, Its not even possible, space wise and graphic wise.
The Nintendo DS is much better than the N64. It has two processors remember. The only downside is screen resolution, which is less than 480p of the N64's (The N64 I don't believe always used this).
Multiplayer maps contain textures in Halo. The ones used in the PC version easily got huge because you needed graphics to display well at 1600 X 1200. Dumbing down the textures for the DS will scale it down to a few megs, before compression.
There isn't gonna be halo on a DS unless its homebrew. Microsoft doesn't support helping a rival. A homebrew version is possible if someone actually worked on it, but it will never be as near as good as any shooter on DS.
umm why did this even make news? tards.
It's not possible.
Let's see here:
Nintendo DS: 67MHz main CPU, 33MHz secondary. 4MB main ram. RISC architecture.
Xbox: 733MHz Intel Pentium 3 based Celeron. 250MHz NVidia GeForce 4 based graphics chip. 64MB RAM. x86 architecture.
Not only is the DS obviously nowhere nearly powerful enough, but it would need to emulate the xbox's processors. My old 350MHz Pentium II computer struggles to emulate a super nintendo that runs at 3.58 MHz. Do you really think a 67MHz CPU can emulate a 733MHz CPU and a 33Mhz general-purpose CPU emulate a 250MHz single-purpose graphics chip? YOU try it, come back with the results.
There is physically absolutely no way this is or ever will be possible. If someone does manage to port an xbox emulator to the DS and squeeze it into it's tiny 4MB of RAM, it'll run at way less than 1FPS max.
I don't know why I even bothered to post.
Any game can be made for any console. Graphics would just need to be scaled back. Pre pentium computers could handle all the gameplay elements of halo easily. It's just the graphics that it would snag at. And even then, developers could easily make some seriously scaled back graphics for the halo franchise for the DS. It would just look like Goldeneye. I'm not saying that we'll see Halo on the DS, just that it's possible.
The original couldn't just be "scaled back". Halo is closed source, nothing can be done to it nor can it be recompiled for a different architecture.
Maybe if someone hacked into Bungie/Microsoft's computer systems, stole the source, removed quite a bit of logic and completely removed a large amount of the graphics engine and scaled everything else back, a version could be compiled and run on the DS. But, it still wouldn't be halo. The entire game was coded w/ 64MB of RAM in mind. It would be very difficult to sift through the hundreds of thousands of lines of code to identify everything that needs to be removed and scaled back. And in the end, so much would need to be cut that it still wouldn't be halo.
If a homebrew game was made, it's still not halo. It would be rather difficult to faithfully recreate the entire halo game. Such an undertaking would require a large team of software devs and would probably need to be created as an open-source project unless one has the millions of dollars needed to fund it. If it was open source, by very definition we would all know about it before even the first line of code was written. Either way, you would get sued by Bungie's owner Microsoft. Microsoft would never allow a knock off game or even the original to run on a competitor's console.
You people are just stupid, this "rumor" is not to port or emulate the real game on the frigging DS!!! Of course thats not possible. We all know that not even the PSP is capable of that, but were looking here for a new game, not just a damn ported version that needs the xbox's potential. Duh its not goin to run. Its possible to play a good 3D fps on the DS. It may not be Halo but we already got Metroid Prime Hunters which is not that bad...
Also it'll never happen Microsoft only does Microsoft so halo only goes for Microsoft Consoles (Xbox, Xbox360, and PC) and we wont see Microsoft helping a competitor
are you guys retarded or something.. were not talking about running the xbox version on the DS. if that were the case then YES it would not run.
we are talking about them making a version of halo for the DS. which means.. lower polygon count.. lower texture sizes... lower quality sounds .. ect.. whats that equal? LOWER FILE SIZES..
now im not saying its true or not.. but why would someone make a april fools joke so early? especially someone from a higher rep site like IGN....
2nd.. just because 1/4 reversed is 4/1 doesnt mean its a joke.. it just means someone on the short bus was smart enough to look at his monitor in a mirror .. OMG!!! lol wtf..
take it as a rumor but dont call the guy a liar because of a coincidence.
thats the worst looking fake in the world the corners of the pic stick out and plus there is no way the ds hardware can handle a halo game seriously use your head people
and it is in no circumstance that this will ever happen nor you shouldn't believe every thing you see at high ranked game sites and i saw this on the main page
of course its fake. where is the HUD? Nuff said.
how would you play Halo on a DS? With that crappy stick?
-"Turn 1/4 around and it becomes 4/1, or April 1st."
Yes. Yes it does. And that means nothing. If it was intended as an April Fool's joke, it would have been posted ON APRIL FOOL'S.
-"Second, if the game was actually in development, they wouldn't have any thoughts about releasing the story at the time they were playing it. Dennis says that it would've been one of the biggest stories of the year, and it would be foolish to let it pass."
Ever heard of a Non-Disclosure Agreement? Or how about when one development insider invites someone in to play a game, but says "You can play it, but don't say anything or I'll lose my job." Brains, people. Use them.
-"Lastly, the mock-up was fake. Dennis notes that there should be at least one camera in IGN's offices."
What's that you say? The MOCK-UP was a FAKE!? You'd almost think that was the definition of the term "mock-up" or something. How silly! As far as cameras, refer back to the last point; Publish a pic of the game, somebody gets fired. Wow. Who would've expected a blind Halo fanboy at a site called "Halo Insider".
And after all that, I'll admit it could be a hoax. There's just no way Dennis' twisted "logic" proves anything one way or another.
"Halo Informer thinks Halo on DS is a hoax." THINKS?! Are you retarded?! OF COURSE IT IS A HOAX! Sometimes I think that the guys who writes this blog ARE retarded...
Microsoft has teamed up with other companies in the past. They already thought about using DS connection to combat the whole ps3 psp connection. Microsoft isn't anywhere near ready for there portable project to even see the daylight yet. They don't see Nintendo's Wii as a threat because most people want to get a Wii and another console because of the differences and price of the Wii. Microsoft dosn't have any competition with the Wii because of there differences in system set up. Media center high deff gaming vs Psudo Emersion interaction at low res graphics. (not bad graphics just low res as in not 1080i or p aka high deff, so dont complain.) Microsofts only competition against it's target is the PS3, if the main selling point besides high graphics singled out games (exclusive titles) is the psp connect, and sony knowing this won't let there be a microsoft to psp connect (the only way they could get the psp to come close to DS lite sales anyway) then Microsofts current alternate action is DS active link, and Nintendo realizes this will tap a mass market of players that don't want a Wii because there graphicly obsessed tards. Sales of this would deffinatly help the DS and the 360, the Wii doesn't use it's DS linking as a point in it's top 10 selling points. Maybe it will when the tilt motion card comes out later this year, but not now. So it's possible this Halo for DS if legit, isn't a Halo FPS, but a tie in for the Halo Wars RTS game due out for 360 not to far from now. DS can do FPS and with halo's strong points, can run a DS edition, the smaller screen doesn't need the definition and rendering needed in Halo, that is what makes maps larger. Lower screen needs lower res, lower power, and less data. That's why the PSP's graphics look as decent as they do. So if Microsoft and nintendo team up and do a Halo Wars tie in game set, both the Xbox 360 and the DS will secure a huge selling point, and cover massive sales in most countries. Microsofts target is mainly Japan, DS link will help them. That is where they need the most help. This game is possible, and would be a very good move for both companies, because Wii will sell regardless of this due to it's nature and design. Xbox 360 however, may need this to compete with Japan's market, most Japanese gamers are unsure of Microsoft due to it's actions in the past involving Japan, and Japan's want to buy things made in Japan. I don't know if this game is real, but this is a possibility, if a company want's to make it happen, then stuff like this happens. If you want to argue, come here to Akihabara and I"ll show you how things work when it comes to gaming marketing, this is the world's electronics testing ground, and home of Japan's electronic district.
