Guinness Book of Records - Image 1Not every gamer loves books, but we reckon just about anyone who can read and hold a control pad would like to scan through this one, at the very least. The Guinness Book of Records will officially unveil the Videogame Edition of the famous annual book to cater to every game trivia nut out there.

The book will launch at the London Book Fair on April 16 to 18 and is officially titled "The Guinness World Records - Videogame Edition 2008". The book will contain all the game information conceivable from record game scores, characters, game sales, record times and how much game industry insiders make in a year.

"The news that Guinness World Records has decided to produce a book devoted to games is great for both gamers and the industry. It's another boost for the profile of gaming, and I'm very much looking forward to getting started," says Games Industry editor Ellie Gibson.

Guinness has been available since 1955, offering exact and reliable information on almost every field of study known to man. In fact, the fields have grown so diverse that the Videogame Edition of Guinness is only the first of many field-specific books to come.

» Guinness World Retards you mean?

Wow, you must have been working on that for days. You've been plotting night and day just so you could post this if it ever arrived. Well, it did. I would also like to congratulate you, somehow you were able to drag down the IQ average of the entire world population by a whole standard deviation. We're all dumber because of you.

Re: Guinness World Records (Unregistered) - 2007-04-12
 » explanation

The Playstation 3 was chosen because of the following reasons:

1. It had everything going for it with 2 very successful past generations.
2. Many delays with the totally unnecessary blu ray drive
3. Numerous lies and broken promises by sony CEOs and other leadership.
4. Double the introduction price of its predecessor, while not really offering anything extra (in many ways offering less.)
5. Failure to produce any games which can meet the graphical quality or gameplay of the year older 360, despite claims.
6. Highly hyped additional features that are so severely limited they're almost useless.
7. Unusual levels of violence and theft compared to other systems around launch.
8. Loyal exclusive developers switching systems on a regular basis.
9. Issues with blu ray compatibility, despite being an advertised selling point.
10. Massive numbers of loyal Playstation fans switching to XBOX and Nintendo.

I was hoping for a fine beer, wii edition. Perhaps instead of a rocketship in the bottles, it would have a wiimote or something. I am thoroughly disappointed by the brewery and will be writing them a sternly worded letter of complaint!

» Halo 3 is Dead No Matter What [End of Discussion] Period

* Halo 3 will be trampled and humiliated by Lair, Ratchet & Clank, Warhawk (true next-gen Unreal Tournament 3), Heavenly Word (true next-gen God of War) and Killzone 2. All these will be released in Sep. 2007.
* Halo 3 is NOT made from scratch. Halo 3 is an updated version of Halo 2 which was made in 2004 by using Renderware engine (confirmed fact; Bungie chose this method to save huge amount of development time and budget); therefore, Halo 3 is NOT a true next-gen title. Halo 3 can’t even use X360 console’s most power. Renderware is far inferior to other advanced engines such as, Source, Unreal, CryEngine, etc.
* This is why Crapalo (Halo) 3 looks like Halo 2.5 in terms of graphics and gameplay (no breakable buildings, no deformable objects, etc). This new Halo 3 alpha footage looks crappy. There're alpha footages of Gears of War and Resistance available online, unless you are blind, you must know the fact that alpha builds are 90% same as the final versions.
* Halo 3's world (in alpha vid) is as shinny (bright, flashy with HDR lighting effects) as the one in Perfect Dark Zero. PDZ was the best looking game when it was released in 2005. PDZ and Kameo were made by Rare which is a subsidiary of Microsoft Game Studios (MGS, not the Metal Gear). MGS also owns FASA (which makes Shadowrun) and Bugie (Halo 3). All these companies share all kinds of technologies (DirectX based) which are used to make X360 games. This is the biggest reason why Shadowcrap, Perfect Dark Crap, Kameo and Halo 3 have extremely similar graphical quality (artistic design).
* Bungie's officially announced in Nov. 2006 that Gears of War has too much superior graphics to Halo 3's final (retail) version (GameSpot’s editor asked “What game has better graphics, GoW or Halo 3?). If you know the definition of ‘paraphrasing’, above statement means “Halo 3 will look very much inferior to GoW in the graphics department.
* Killzone 2 is built from scratch (true next-gen); therefore, KZ2 can use most potential power of PS3 hardware. Guerrilla which is a subsidiary of Sony has 120 employees (programmers and graphics designers). The total budget for KZ2 is $21 million (for your reference, Epic spent $10 m to make Gears of War with 90 devs).
* All Sony’s internal developers and Sony’s very close world class companies share all kinds of technologies which are used for making PS3 games (OpenGL 2.0 based). These world class developers are those companies which make games like: MotorStorm, Metal Gear Solid 4, Warhawk, Ratchet & Clank, Virtua Fighter 5, Resistance, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, White Knight Story, Tekken 6, Heavenly Sword, Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy XIII, Lair, Uncharted-Drake's Fortune and of course Killzone 2.
* Polyphony’s Gran Turismo 4 on PS2 is world's most popular racing game in the entire gaming history based on the number of copies sold. GT HD (4.5) demo was released in 2006; all game reviewers were surprised that GT HD was just good (80/100) when they expected that this new GT must get review scores of 95/100 just like all its predecessors. After this shock, Polyphony officially confirmed GH HD was an upgraded version of PS2's GT 4; that's why it looks just good. Polyphony then confirmed that they totally scraped the whole GT HD project and working on GT 5 entirely from scratch. Bungie must take a leaf out of Polyphony’s book; Bungie should scrap Halo 3 then make it from scratch then released it in 2009.
* I have to admit (even though I don’t want to) that Halo 3 will sell 10 millions more X360 consoles because Halo 3 is the only game on X360 which is worth $60 (99% of all X360 games are pure garbage; It's more fun to play catch-with-the-box than it is to play the games)
* I’m NOT a fanboy; if you disagree with me, then you HAVE TO say that I’m an X360 fanboy due to the fact that I’ve owned my X360 console since the release date in 2005. I spent a hundred times more time on my X360 console than I did on my new PS3 (I recently bought it).
